PAM 728 - Opinions?

So I was walking through Selfridges watch porn room earlier and came across the PAM 728. Straight away I was mesmerised and asked to try it on. I love the Panerai look and love blue so no wonder. Used to own a 392 which was a great watch but moved it on to fund other things.

As soon as I put it on I was in love. It fit perfectly, looked absolutely stunning and light as hell due to the titanium. It was basically everything I love about Panerai minus the things I don’t like about Panerai!

Anyone else have this watch or care to share their opinion? I didn’t purchase it there and then as wanted to research it first (even though the salesman gave me the whole ‘only 500 made, they’re all sold out, this is the last one we have line). I can get it a couple of grand cheaper bnib just looking on Chrono24 so very tempted to pull the trigger!

My current collection consists of Rolex Explorer 1 and BLNR so I think this would compliment those perfectly.

Oh and yes I’m well aware of the die hard Panerai fans view of the due line due to its low water resistance and non screw on back - honestly I don’t care about any of that stuff, this watch just sang to me :)

“Just sang to me” = done.
That’s all that matters and other opinions are moot. That said, I’m a die-hard and I dig it. Though I forget if it’s the 42 or 45.

Yeah absolutely. Don’t get me wrong no one else’s opinion is gonna change the way about how I feel about this watch or whether I get it or not. I was just interested in how others felt about it and particularly anyone who owns it experiences with it.

I understand this is not like a popular Rolex where they are basically paying you to buy it if you pay retail (see my BLNR). You have to love this watch to buy it and even if you do go grey you will still take a bath if you sell it

728 is the nicest Due by far, IMHO. From your post it sounds like you know what you need to do.

728 is 42mm right? The one that has P1000 handwound movt? Tried it before and probably the only due that I like, but I think I'll buy it pre owned instead of brand new as price of due is free falling pretty bad...

last year around October I saw the blue titanium auto due in 45mm (729?) in minty pre owned condition asking around 7.5-8k usd

Yeah that’s the one mate. And as you said I wasn’t about to drop 7.5K on it before researching the market first, which I immediately did in a pub over the road :) Turns our a bnib can be had for 2K under retail so of course I will go down that route if I get it.

This would be a purchase of pure love as I know even at 2K under retail I’ll get hosed if I need to sell it, which I may do in the next couple of years to help us climb the old UK property ladder! I guess I can take comfort in the fact my BLNR will offset the difference:)

Honestly out of all the amazing watches I saw today, Patek, AP, VC etc this one stood out the most. That blue is amazing!

PAM 728 - Opinions?

I think for around 5.5k gbp (roughly 7.1-7.2k usd) the value is quite good considering it's still a new model and in titanium...even I still see 338 (wire lugs Radiomir in titanium) selling for around 6-6.5k usd (roughly 4.5-5k gbp)

But then we have to remember, watch purchases are purely emotional, there's no "logic" behind it because if we use logic, all of us will wear quartz watches lol

Sorry if I made the wrong price assumptions as I didn't check C24 for the current price, but I gotta say that it's a nice due

You can’t always rely on Chrono 24...a lot of their advertising is bull shit...I would be surprised if a BNIB is selling for 20% below retail. Sorry but that doesn’t make sense to me.

Astetically, the 728 has a beautiful dial, but I believe the 42mm PAM Due is more of a woman’s watch relative to other PAMs—at least IMHO...I do like the fact that the 728 is manual and doesn’t have “automatic” plastered across the dial...it’s a beauty if you are into smaller PAMs...

PAM 728 - Opinions?

If you love it go for it. My 728 was the first PAM I purchased. It’s a great-looking watch. I bought mine BNIB from a Panerai boutique.

Maybe I can offer just a bit of motivation

Good luck!

I think the 728 & 729 are great. I tried one on and it sat a lot better on my wrist than the older chunky ones.
