I’ve seen crypto and watch correlated articles quite often.

Personally I don’t see how crypto going up or down would have any correlation - I invest in crypto as a percentage of my portfolio. Not my entire net worth and I certainly wouldn’t have to start selling watches based on the price of any crypto/stocks or any type of investment going down.

I want to believe this and will when the dealers on this forum start to drop their prices, so far I have seen little evidence.

A lot of people did invest their life savings in crypto though.

Also a lot of paycheck to paycheck people.

I think it’s like any investment, in 2008 the bubble “popped” and look at home prices now

Housing in Vegas appears to be turning down. I don't see anything moving right now even with price drops. Tackling price inflation via demand destruction appears to be the strategy.

I do not think it has burst. I think it is bursting...

Some people think that we are at the bottom.

As all grey only buy when they have *the* buyer for the watch and that they almost only take consignments (risk is on the seller), it tells me that they also do not think the bottom has been reached or that secondary market will stabilize or go up with certainty in the close future.

My local dealer’s cases are stocked. They can’t sell anything because I’m not sure the reason but I think it’s an indication of what’s coming.

For two years the ad’s had nothing to show as there were almost no allocations (we know there were but loads of bs politic behind it).

Last week I popped in and they had everything.

My feeling is that they’re loading the displays so they can get dealers building interest. For us here, we pretty much know why we want when we walk into an AD. But the general public does not. How do you sell a product to someone who isn’t familiar with the brand and can’t see what they’re buying?

Anyway, I think it’s a sign of good things to come.

On a side note, I had lunch across the street but could easily see inside the store. In the 45 minutes I was eating, I saw three separate people sitting down with the rep trying on Rolex watches. I couldn’t see what they were trying on (I was way far away), but the point is that’s three people who all got the call from their AD in one day. I haven’t seen that ever.

Watches without movement are set at 10:10:31. These are "real" watches but certainly not for sale => exhibition pieces.

Okay, fair enough. I thought they were exhibition pieces at first. Why aren’t these so called “real” watches not for sale?

I'm sure some Rolex/Patek buyers were Insta-rich crypto investors, but normally, even before crypto, when there is a market downturn or recession, people sell off assets for cash.

And when the market takes off again - who knows about crypto because it is new, but otherwise the market always shoots back up - then Veblen goods will increase in value. This has been my experience.

Lol it’s not in the ebay sales sub forum. That’s another sub forum within “Watchout” that these are currently listed in.

Click the eBay & internet sales sub forum and you’ll no longer see this.
