Between these two, I would go for the Daytona simply because of its size that makes it more wearable for me. If you were to put it against a more slender time-only RO (15300/400/500/510) I would go AP.

I really like this ROO and what can you say, it is the Safari one of the classic styles. I’d only say the ROO haven’t aged particularly well & with this one the buckle is literally a pain in the wrist (scuse the pun)

These are so different. One question will answer this for you, end of: what size is your wrist?

I'm going against the grain here and voting Safari. I've owned that model and the cream dial is is so nice and you can add some additional straps for variety. Wears great on rubber as well.

Have to say Daytona. That ROO is too chunky and the black Daytona is a sleek beauty.

I like watches like most on here but I’m partial to Rolex as I have been for going on 50 years. I have noticed celebrities wearing a lot of AP lately which to me indicates it as the flavor of the moment as it has been for the past few years actually. Great watches but could be sort of a fad? Anyway, Daytona hands down!

Even Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak designer, did not like the clunky Offshore. I’m not a Daytona fan either - maybe go for an Aquanaut or other?

Traded my 2015 black dial 520 for an AP diver and couldn’t be happier. However, they couldn’t be any more different watches to compare. One is sleek and extremely shiny and the other is large and chunky. I could never bond with the 520 due to how shiny the watch appeared (PCLs, bezel and even the sub-dials)… I realized I loved this watch in pics, but not in real life. Biggest mental hurdle was knowing the Daytona would rise in value and the diver would most likely decrease. I had to come to terms that I want something to wear over being a safe queen and followed my heart. Good luck.

I think so Sir,but what makes me think is that the SS daytona (the pre ceramic or the ceramic) has been way over the retail price, while the AP ROO from that year is very close to the retail price.

Not a real fan of both watches but if I did have to choose it would be the Daytona mainly because not a fan of any of the RO range just dont like the case/dial/bracelet style.

I’ve had/have both watches and from a pure financial perspective the Daytona will always hold (or grow) it’s value. The retail price now or in the past when new is irrelevant really.

I love AP (my favourite brand to be fair) but the ROO has never retained value in the past and has only hardened with the hype/surge is the last 3-4 years. I’d park the financials and concentrate on which you prefer…

As an aside, from an owners view, they are completely different watches in almost every way so it’s hard to compare their merits.

The 520 isn’t bling in the least, it’s very under the radar when compared to the 500 especially.

I want to say the ROO but it’s just sooo big that it looked silly on my wrist. I have a 116520 and it’s a very comfortable watch.

The Daytona. A classic and years down the road you will look at your wrist and know you made the right choice.

Totally different. Incomparable. I feel like this is just a budget issue.

But I know people who LOVE their offshores. Most people I know with a 116520 want to trade it for smoething else later on. HA.

Not a fan of the Safari, so I would say the Daytona. Consider an AP Diver.
