In the past grey prices were ok, cause only people with money were buying, then the average joe jumped in and turned it into an investment creating a bubble.
So let’s hope for the hype to decrease even more so most of you dreamers will disappear and we can start enjoying wasting money on luxury goods again.
I bought a yellow OP a week ago knowing it could lose more value, but that made my watch even more exclusive, cause most of you weren’t buying before and won’t definitely buy now, so thank you :)
Wow - are you a Swiss Banker, by any chance?

what an excellent comment

i think most of the people here who are 'siCk oF HeARinG aBouT pRiCE poStS' are the ones who bought at the peak and hate the daily reminders that they made some terrible financial decisions

the market is going down hard, and i cant wait to see this forum when discounts at grey become the norm

Or perhaps we bought years or decades ago because we like watches.

Good luck and I for one have no interest in where prices go.

+1

It's a boring subject, and there's a lot of overstatement going on. None of my watches (16610; 5513; and 114300) have fallen in price, and all are discontinued.

I am always amazed by how my watches never fall in value…until I try to sell them.

No real different than all the people almost hoping for global economic collapse so that watch prices will come down.

There was a full set new White Gold Sub that sold for under retail on Moda. A black dial Rolex Submariner 16618 with full links and sticker had a price drop to 28k.

This is a very weird topic at present. Prices will rise and fall according to perceived scarcity and desirability.
For Rolex Watches it seems to me there is a base price that does change that much in the longer term and is based on purchase price (original plus current, plus a variable premium based on model). Overlaying this is a short term crazy price / bubble price that is volatile and faddish. Short term corrections to volatility should be expected.

Good point, how many within the USA here are members of NAWCC... or the AHCI in Europe?

(Yes, am a member of both... even if only to support VERY good people who love horology).

My Rolex collection is limited to three pieces, all bought pre owned. None were bought with a view to making a profit; they were what I wanted at the time and I have had some wear from them in my collection. Two were bought in the last few years so I was already paying over the odds really but I think I will still benefit from the deal when I eventually trade them in for a grail piece.
