Bonhams Hulk Auction

Bonhams is auctioning off a large collection of Hulks, starting from 2010 all the way to 2020. All of the watches are owned by the same collector who purchased a Hulk every year and kept it unworn. The starting bid for all the watches is surprisingly $28,500+ with $30,000-$60,000 USD appraisals on some of them.
It will be interesting to see how many of the watches see strong bids and what ultimately the collection goes for when the auction ends in about 8 days.

Only one plus the doll have been bid on by someone.

No one has bid the minimum bid on any of the watches, save one. Which, although it has the highest estimate, it appeared to have the lowest starting bid. Of course someone bid on it.

This guy would have been better served to have auctioned this 9 or 10 months ago.

We had a couple of people possibly close to the seller trying to shill this auction last week. Thread got left open cos it was kind of amusing how everyone sussed them.

See posts 7 and 22.

The guy shilling the auction posted almost identical posts in other forums where it was picked up quick-smart.

I just find it disappointing that someone would even think about buying 10 LVs just to auction them off. No one needs 10 LVs. If the auction flops it’s karma of equal proportion.

selling that collection in this climate is asinine.

wait for the dead cat bounce, give it some time, and then revisit the auction idea.

I am more curious who the seller is, I cannot believe any AD around the world would let any one buy the same watch 11 times over a ten year period. especially years 2018, 2019 and 2020 were these watch were hard to come by and with there stickers intact, this seller is either Rolex them self or direct from an AD.

- OR - the seller was dumb enough to assemble this collection via Grey Market (like lots of people have creating the isntafabulous box full of 'hot' pieces) over the past year or so, thinking he'd make a killing with a "full set".

The one from 2010 and 2020 have active bids since some days back.

The timing of this action is epic fail.

Am I missing something? It's literally like a wine vertical but unfortunately IT'S THE SAME WATCH 10 TIMES OVER....???

Good luck with auctioning off a falling knife set

Bonhams: The Rolex "Hulk" Sale

What do you think about this auction? I just can't get my head around the fact that the Hulk can fetch such a thematic auction for it, and that the bids are this high!

Haven’t you heard the quote before; “What happens at auction houses, stays at auction houses”.

Are you the owner of these watches trying to get more people watching this???? That auction is stupid and each hulk will probably sell for around 20-25k max and none are worth the joke price of 30-40k like these idiots think……and this is coming from a guy who owns 2 hulks

Anyone for a Hulk?

Apparently someone bought one of every year and has now dumped them at Bonham’s Auctions in California at the Quail Lodge.

Apologies, I must have missed those posts. I was searching for Bonhams prior to opening the new thread, but found nothing.

Really really peculiar auction that will certainly "fail" in my eyes.

No, I am not. I am sorry that I did not find the original post. I was just really curious if people agreed with me that this auction is quite ridiculous...
