My Panda Daytona for 5524g?

I'm 99% certain that I am going through with this trade but interested to hear your thoughts.

I will be getting 5524g (2021) + a bit of Cash for my 116500LN Panda daytona (2019).

I am technically selling the most hyped up rolex steel sports for a white gold patek that is more complicated but less loved by the market.

When I first saw the 5524g I hated the two pushers to the left but now I think its qwerky and love the look.

Seems like a no brainer ?

I would trade for a Patek but not the 5524. Mainly because my wrist is tiny and I can’t wear it lol!

I think this is an excellent trade as you probably paid $12k for the Daytona and the retail on the PP is $55k and if you get some cash, I assume you are clearing $60k

The PP is an outstanding selection, but will be more under the radar than the panda, but those in the know, will know...

Personally, as an owner of both- I’d do this trade to get the 5524g- it’s an echelon higher in my book (quality and prestige wise) That being said, you should be aware that the Daytona won’t come along anytime soon - so if you LOVE LOVE the Daytona, maybe think about it a bit more.

I really like the 5524g but there's no way I'd trade my 116500 for it. It's not that I don't think it makes sense value wise, it's just that I love my Daytona.

Do not sell.
Keep Panda. And save up for 5524G. Its not going anywhere so you have time to save and buy it.

Hard to say, but I’m not convinced the 5524G will continue to be easily obtained. It’s too good and takes time for opinions to change. You can see it in the threads. Love mine. Sold my daytona long ago. Most (not all) dings on 5524 tend to be that it is too big for them. Others love or hate the pushers. The complication is incredibly useful if you travel or care about a second time zone. Better than any GMT. Have fun.

IMO….yes…no brainer! I’ve had most iterations of the Daytona and both the G and the R 5524. To me it’s just a much more special watch than the Daytona, and I am a Daytona fan. As MYK7000 said…it’s an echelon higher, and I agree. If I had to pick one and never have both…5524 would be my pick.
At the end of the day it’s all personal, buy what you’ll love to look at on your wrist.

It’s an odd world. I simultaneously don’t think Daytona white is a 50k watch, and I wouldn’t do that trade because I love the Daytona more than the 40k profit the trade represents.

I have a Daytona and a 5524g. They are each special for different reasons, and I could not choose between them. If you can keep the Daytona and get a 5524g later, I'd go that route unless you are sure you won't want another Daytona, which are tough to get unless you want to pay gray prices undercutting your trade.

Only do it if you really plan to wear and enjoy the 5524.

Thanks for your opinions.
Yes daytona is a nice watch but its not "special" to me and definitely dont see the value @ $50K. I wish I could have em all :P but I'm not that rich. Maybe one day!

Trade is done. I will be doing a F2F transaction on Friday this week!

The Daytona is way too cliche. The Patek is of much more taste. One day when Patek discontinue the watch, it'll be missed very much.

50k for daytona will not last more than a couple more years imo.

I would do it for sure. 5524 is a very nice watch, especially when you see it in person, and the travel time function is simply amazing.

I would take advantage of the current market and do it. If you have a good relationship with your AD, you could potentially re-purchase the daytona at some point

I'd put it toward a 5205 or 5905 personally but either way, don't hesitate to get the value out of the Daytona while it's peaking.

I like the concept since I like the 5524. But there is just something so psychologically pleasing when having a Daytona. Very tough decision.

5524..go for it. Agree, it's a higher echelon watch - not even close. Beautiful dial, lume, great gmt function.

Go for it, the 5524g is a fantastic piece and it will be noticed only by those who know, rather than the masses that will go: "nice Daytona bro".

Only for that reason I will do the switch, even more so that currently you can trade them at the same value + some cash in your pocket!

DEAL

It depends on what else you have got. As an only watch I would rather keep the Daytona.

I wouldn’t do that trade, considering Pandas continue to climb I would simply hold on to that piece and treat it like a piece of gold.
