5236p
I have noticed that the 5236P Perpetual calendar is approaching MSRP on Chrono which is certainly a decline from day 1 of release. I've noticed that the perpetual calendars don't always get a lot of price appreciation (5270P seems to be the exception). Is my perspective correct? Please weigh in.
This isn't a thread about 'value' in terms of making a quick buck but the price does reflect to some degree how the collectors gauge the collectibility and desireability of a given piece. |

Calendar complications used to almost universally trade significantly below retail. Brands make too many of them and demand isn’t quite there.

Most watches on straps are historically weaker on the secondary market, with the exception of the novelties, discontinued references, limited editions, 5231, 5212, and etc. The 5236P is still fairly new but this model is now into the second year of production and more pieces have surfaced in the secondary market, which probably explains the price drop from novelty last year. Most AD only receives 1 5236P annually and it is still not easy to get from AD though. It is still early days to talk about collectability because this model is still in production and collectors have no idea how long is the runway.

I’m not surprised. As others have mentioned , PCs/ACs have traditionally traded lower , and personally I think this is a weak PC offering from Patek- the layout of the day/date/month, for example, while perhaps a technical achievement , is an eyesore to me.

Perpetual from Patek is generally weak. But if you want to buy a perpetual, be prepared to do the 'long distance'. I believe over time, collectors' market will appreciate the subtle beauty of the perpetuals; especially after it has been discontinued.
My humble view. |

5270p (salmon) increased by 100k in few months after being discountinued and on back on entire market increase. Before that it was always slightly lowet than retail and price will probably continue to drop in near future.

I wonder if they considerable premium this in-line commands over a regular PC will add any value in the used market?
