Amazing patina on this watch. Rare Lava Dial is wicked looking and changes color dramatically in different lighting. Very rich and looks like it’s on fire! So fun to wear and discuss with people who ask you about it.
The material Rolex used during this period of production to finish the dials aged in such a way that caused the orange to come through the dark brown giving the appearance of “Hot Molten Lava” The distribution of this patina effect is key to the value collectors place on such a piece. How attractive is the patina? I would rate this dial’s patina a 10/10. It reminds you of the crater at the top of the volcano which the magma coming through. Such a fortunate pattern naturally emerged over time to make one die hard collector very, very happy every time they step into the sun light. Comes with both crystals. The correct cyclops and the domed crystal shown in some of the photos. Fully serviced with paperwork and pressure test. Completed by “Phillip Ridley” a very well known and respected watch maker who specializes in vintage pieces.
