I had also had that thought so I've taken some closer shots of the dial. I suspect the indices and lettering etc. is applied to a thin transparent layer which covers the dial pattern but, who knows.

They are.
They sit on very thin “stilts” just above the dial.

That's right. In fact the GS, KS (King Seiko) and even the SEIKO applied logos on regular Seiko watches have been suspended/raised on two pins like that since the 1960s.

I was never an Omega fan personally, first started with Rolex years back (DJ’s) and gradually took a liking to Seiko Tuna watches that transitioned to GS. Owned several dress GS models along with one diver GS now all transitioned to what is listed in my sig. I am however considering the new upcoming SBGA375, not a Limited model either & not inexpensive by any means but is one beautiful Spring Drive model. Somewhat of a blue dial version of the Snowflake but in SS if I’m not mistaken.

Hi Chip. Where did you get the blue strap that’s on the GMT? Thanks.

It’s the textured calf strap from bandrbands (19mm)
I also have a 20 mm one on one my 1971 DJ Sigma.

Edit: I think Tapatalk quoted the wrong post, I hope the gentleman that asked the question will see this.
