Depends on what you are looking at. They are good for the money if you buy them at a discount.
For similar money a Hamilton may be a better choice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I figured it is the type of watch you only get if it's at a super discount. Haha Thanks

They're a mall level watch, reasonable value and bling for the money but nothing special.

Watches are like wine. Some are expensive. Some are cheap. Some have a commercial appeal. Some do not. If there's a wine that you like - - buy it. If there is a watch that you like -- buy it. Don't worry about the brand.

I just got one the other day and so far so good. It is running about 15 sec a day fast but I heard they settle down after awhile. Here is the link I posted of my new Tissot:

Tissot was Omega owned up until the 80's when the Omega/Tissot company went out of business. It has a good history and name.
When the Swiss folded all of the failed watch makers into the Swatch fold, Omega/Tissot name brands were retained. (allthough the manufacturing facilities were closed) They are made as well as any other under the Swatch Umbrella and have a few twists, like the "Touch" line, that have followers. Tissot, as has been said, is a good mid-level brand with solid mechanics.

swiss
[QUOTE=Judah;5545388]Thanks for the info. I was researching and I read that their quality fell off after the split but how can we really expect from a watch at its price point.[/QUOT
I don't know about "fell off" because they weren't great before the quartz crisis. However, now they are a Swiss watch brand produced by a strong, reliable company, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they aren't better than they ever were in the past. If you like one of their models, they are a fair price for a decent watch. |

I have a Tissot quartz Chrono. Once of the lugs failed and the watch hit the ground. The watch is a battery monster if you like to use the Chrono function quite often. I don't have an experience for newer models

I have a Tissot Sea Touch. The black dial that came only on a bracelet. I have it mounted on the rubber strap. I think that it's an amazing watch. It has a touch screen and it does things that you have to see to believe. Very reliable and about three years on a battery. This is my travel watch when I'm in the Caribbean and a great dive watch. This thing is probably six years old and it works flawlessly.

I'm a gadget guy and I had the t touch expert in titanium on a bracelet. I think I got it for $1000 many years ago. Don't have it anymore but I loved that watch for what it was. The compass function was extremely cool. Will definitely buy another some day.

Just like its Swatch Group siblings, Omega, Longines, and Hamilton, I find Tissot to make an excellent watch for the money, especially since they are discounted substantially. They're nicely made and of very good quality considering the modest price. My wife has had an automatic Tissot on a bracelet for about a decade as her beater and it still looks and runs great.

Tissot is ok. The best way I can put it is "they work, there is nothing special about it." I bought a Tissot Le Locle 5 years ago and it's still running. Hope that helps

I had the touch model about 15 years ago, pretty fun watch for a beater, apart from that they are a company with a certain history, I much rather get that than many other brands for the same money

just like rolex, tissot has a long history and association with sports and especially auto racing. of course nowadays many people forget the history or never knew. yea the price point is on the low side for some tissot models and it doesn't help that just like with seiko there are about a million different models offered, some with such miniscule differences that it's hard to distinguish one from another. guess it's where their recent marketing dept chose to take the brand.
nonetheless there are some very cool retro models that celebrate their 50's and 60's auto racing heritage like a few from the current PR 516 line. tissot is still a quality made watch and not a brand to look down one's nose at simply because the price is reasonable. of course one can walk into a rolex retailer and pay loads more money for the same kind of history. |

For the money, I’ve always preferred Hamilton or Seiko.

I have a yellow gold Visodate. Nice dress watch, gets little wrist time. But no complaints. If someone was assembling an affordable watch collection, I like Hamilton, Oris, Seiko, Tissot and Frédérique Constant.

My first watch was a Tissot Seastar given to me new in 1976, basically an Omega in sheep's clothing. I wore it every day for 25 years and it never missed a beat. I still have it, and it still works.
The brand is now a shadow of its former self. If you can find a 50s, 60s or 70s Tissot you like, buy it. |

For a few hundred dollars more than your average Seiko or Citizen, you get a solid swiss mechanical watch with a movement that, although not haute horologie, is reliable and relatively cheap to maintain (speaking about the standard ETAs; jury is still out on the powermatic models yet).
I think there’s a place for Tissot in any collection, whether it’s your most or least expensive piece. |
