Great colour blue stitching and that black leather looks quality.

A quality leather strap really does compliment a Panerai.

Also a Jules Verne 26/26 XL,with a Panerai 26mm pre-V style buckle on its way ..... That may just be THE STRAP,for the 242.Unfortuanately,Panerai,is a bit like a loose forward thats too slow to the ball .... 9 weeks delivery time !! The independents ,like Greg, are much better in this regard.

Wow! The Elusive 242! I'm seriously considering one of these. What's your take on it. How long have you had it. Only 300 in the world (but somehow not a LE :ha:) and that sweet JLC movement.

Correct.Not LE,but VERY limited.Only 300 in the world.Only manufactured in 2006.Thats it.Not as hot as the 249,217,127,232 now,but in the future ...... ?? Will have to see.

Bought March 2008,brand new at an AD.Amazing how it just sat there for close to 2 years... AND I got a nice discount !!

The JLC movement has Daytona like accuracy.

I love it !! Amazing depth to the dial and still maintaining that open look a Panerai MUST have.

I need more money. I'm going to be kicking myself in a year when I have the money for a 242 and can't find one. I have one lined up now (even in the same town as me), but I need to cool off from buying any more watches this year.

These pics are driving me crazy. What a beautiful watch!!!!!!!!!!

great taste in bands! The blue reminds me of the stitching on my 74 Alfa spider. Beautiful!

Yes,it will work very well with the 249 !!!

The blue stitch on black is quite subtle.Mostly depending on lighting conditions. Can sometimes disappear against the black and other times really stand out.I think the same is true for the blue hands on the Cali/249.It will be a nice combo !

Looking at the nature of the Cali ... 47mm/blue hands/Romans,Arabics,sticks hour markers a more flamboyant approach will also suit it well. What about dark brown/blue stitch/black edges or Bordo/blue stitch/black edges ? On both of those, the blue stitch will really stand out. Will look fantastic on a 249 !!

*sigh*

Here is my problem. My divorce is final and my lovely X has to pay me a decent sum of money. I just bought a Sub, a 1938a (about $800 with custom strap), a 530i BMW, and now a 242???? My current GF is gonna leave me, thinking I have a compulsive shopping habit!!!!!!!

Here's the facts .....

The 242 from an AD is no more.

They are available on the secondary market.Thats currently,as we speak. When those are gone there will be no more bnibs available.(Btw,I have noticed the pricing moving up ,the last two weeks or so(From less than 9k to around 10k,as an average pricing).Except for one here and there, that will be in some collectors hands demanding a high price to make it worthwhile to him to sell.

There are only 300 of the 242 in the whole wide world.(There are 1950 of the 127s and 1938 of the 232s) Will it demand such high prices as the 232,217,127 in the future ?Who knows ? Time will tell,BUT the price is very likely to move up ............

Ahhh - Thank goodness they are sold out, now I don't have to go looking for one at Panerai Beverly Hills. That was a close call. Larry.

Well, I'm out of the woods for a bit. The 242 I was eyeing just got sold. Whewwwww!!!!

I'm getting my big check tonight and I said if the guy still had it next Friday, I told myself I would get it, but he sold it today. Bittersweet really. I really want it, but so much money.

There will always be another one, a 242 or otherwise.

Panerai still have the 242 listed on their newest pricelist @ $10200.The one you could find was a bargain at that price.
