The 44mn is what has me sitting on the fence and why my better judgment will probably cause me to pass on it after thinking more about it.

You could do a lot worse at the price point. Unlike most Prospex divers it does have a sapphire crystal.

Around $1000 is a tricky price point with a lot of uninspiring watches. I hesitated for a few weeks before spending $1060 on the sbdc059 which I think is a comparable offering from seiko

Is that the model that is sometimes referred to as the Marinemaster 200?

I love it. I think I might pick one up this summer. I wouldn't let that 44mm size scare you away. The MM300 is also 44mm but wears smaller (on me, anyway). Try it on before dismissing it based on size.

I tried one on today, I have a 6.5" wrist and it wore quite well and didn't look to large. I was offered a 20% discount (High street retailer).

I would have bought it straight away, but when in the show case, the date was half and half in the window, the time had stopped at about 8am/pm so there was no excuse, I wound it on and it righted itself, I just couldn't rid myself of the niggling feeling that all was not well with that watch. It may have been me, but once the doubt is there, I find it difficult to shake.

I will find another, it is a stunning watch.

It is definitely a watch that fits better than the SKX007 for me. It is great piece.

But when the spidey sense is tingling it is best to listen.

I had to wind it all the way past the 12 o clock for it to right itself, it did straight away after reaching that time but I was adjusting the hand quite quickly, I didn't know if it would stick half way in the date window on normal operation. I don't think the discount was because it was faulty, I'm not sure they even knew, it gives me a starting point in other shops though.

The UK price for this was £799 so it was nigh on £160 discount.

SLA 017 has a similar look at is 39mm.

It is an interesting watch, the bezel is an unusual blue, very nice, very cool. The black matte dial is subtle, and the whole layout conveys quality. It is a definite step above many of the Seiko divers. It is however big, and my wrist is large, but it eventually ran its course and I let it go, the bulkiness kind of discouraged me. I think it is now available for nice prices, less than I paid. And it is not unusual for watches to be purchased again here lol

Surprisingly, this one has stuck with me more than the other Seiko divers, the SRPC91-

I just can't get past the hands... I would have to change them to the baton/MarineMaster style, but then I've got an SBDX017, so that would be redundant, me thinks...

It's a very cool looking watch, though. If I didn't have my MM300, I would consider it.

The MM hands are to small. Heck they are almost to small for the MM.

Yeah, I've seen your swaps on IG. I like the cathedral hands, a la Grand Seiko divers (I just am not a fan of the reverse meatball second hand). The baton/62Mas hands just look too thin on it, I think. That visible dial space must be bigger than the MM300; thinner bezel gives it more real estate, I think.

I might put a SKX175 second hand on it soon. I haven't decided yet.

The dial is absolutely bigger on the SBDC063. The MM dial is even to small for the SKX007's.
