Hello everyone, just joined the group.

Looks like a great place to get advice.

I hope to have some useful input soon.

Explorer II - Going all white

At the risk of getting killed by the traditionalists, I decided to make some changes to my 25 y.o. Explorer II. The numbers were losing the paint, half were down to the bare metal so I decided to have some fun.

I saw a video on youtube from someone who removed with toothpicks and repainted the numbers on the crown. It turned out pretty nice.

I decided to do the same but go from black to white. It was fairly easy and kind of fun. I bought a basic testors paint kit, a $20- pair jewelers glasses, and some small brushes and went to work. It took some patience but in the end turned out pretty good after applying two coats to cover. I used to paint cars so this did not scare me.

Here is the initial result. I have ordered a white leather band from Everest and hope to add the final results when I receive the new band.

regards,

DP

I like the black Bezel! Unfortunately paint will scratch very easy and likely look bad quickly.

Perhaps going to the next step and having the bezel Powder Coated would solve that problem?
