3 Million Dollar Corvette

That's a lot of money for a Corvette but Hendrick has plenty in his pocket.

I'm sort of torn on the whole hoarding of cars and sticking them in "museums" but bottom line is, it's not my money so none of my business.

But it is a shame to not be driving some of those beauties he has in his "collection".

Hendrick can do whatever he wants. Actually a pretty cool story how he built his empire. Seems like a solid dude and true car lover. Love the new Corvette BTW.

At least the money went to charity, even if the car gets permanently parked.

Very interesting article.
As they say, the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. He certainly has a lot of toys.

Can’t help to see the interesting parallel Rolex universe mentioned in the article.

Hendricks dealers stopped taking preorder reservations due to the many years it will take to fulfill the thousands that they already have taken.

My AD broke the news to me last weekend...my Daytona 500 is never coming. His lists were so long that he has torn them up - the whales and me are now orphans

We’re on our own like the C8 buyers...

Yes that’s the best part. He has many 00001 VINs that will only see the occasional parade lap and never the open road.

Best to leave them at home...or at least not parked on the street in Detroit.

He's out of his mind but I like it! Seems fitting given his passion and history with the brand. Now he's a part of the history books in a sense, as he got the first one ever made. You only live once and it's good to see him pursuing what makes him happy despite the astronomical cost.

I was at the Barrett Jackson when they auctioned it off. The room was insane! I also saw them auction off the first Lexus LC 500 convertible. That went for $2 million! It’s great for the charity. I’m not exactly how things work, but the buyer may be able write it off as it’s a donation.

The amount over and above market value could be treated as a charitable donation. Dunno if the IRS would try to use secondary market pricing, rather than MSRP that Hendrick’s tax folks would no doubt claim.

Pretty awesome you got to be in the room when the bidding craziness happened!
