I’d recommend adding a third piece with a date function, such as a 126234/126200 Datejust 36 or a nicely preserved 16700/16710. I think you need something a little lower profile/smaller/lighter to contrast with the sub and speedy. I speak as a five and six digit sub owner with an eye on a DJ.

My perfect duo would be:

1. 36mm Datejust
2. 16610 Submariner

Same but different:

I'm glad you posted this picture. I was talking to you about this watch over on the Omega forum. I'm very close to picking one up but the size scared me a little.

Was curious about the 44.25 mm stated diameter and how big it wears. This picture is along side of a 40 mm Sub and there is barely any noticeable difference in visual size. I don't know how Omega comes up with these giant measurements of their watches because that definitely doesn't look like a 44 mm watch to me. I believe the dial/bezel are exactly the same size as a Sub at 40 mm. Somehow the case must add an additional 4.25 mm but I sure can't see where.

The sub only feels a tad smaller (albeit thinner and lighter) than the speedy. They are close on the lug to lug measurements, and I think the thin bezel does make the speedy feel smaller. Also, a ton of the thickness comes from the sapphire crystals. The actual case itself is about 11-12mm thick I believe.

Good feedback. Any chance of a photo with both the watches on your wrist next to each other? (ok I'm needy)
