5513 Crown - repairable or not?
Hello smart people! I have a 1967 #5513 , that I bought from a friend who was the original owner. He had it serviced locally many years ago, and for some reason, they installed an aftermarket crown/winder. He gave me the original crown/winder when I bought the watch, so I have that, and wonder if its possible to put it back on?
I don't quite understand the mechanics of this....is the crown attached to a stem of some sort? I cant picture how the crown itself would attach or detach... Does this crown look like it is complete? It looks slightly damaged, is that fixable? Thank You! |

You have both the crown and tube that fits into the case.
It looks like the tube is damaged beyond repair, but it is difficult to determine the condition of the crown. Yes, the crown does screw into the stem, which extends into the works. Usually these would be fit as a matched unit; there are proper replacements available although a bit pricey for an era correct replacement.

Thank you - thats great information. I'll have to decide whether or not its worth the money to get a period correct crown. I'll have a look and see what the prices are....
