I would love a Lange. They are the pinnacle of large watch producers right now. I feel AP and Patek lack for the money involved.

I love JLC as a company, but most of their product does not tempt. I don’t care for IWC as a company, but I like a few of their watches.

No.

My only aspiration is to acquire more Rolexes.

I don't buy and own watches based on the "end" of a spectrum , but rather which ones appeal to me for what they are and how a watch fits my interests on my wrist. Thus Rolex, JLC, and Casio/G Shock are what I wear, and I have no interest in the "higher end" brands listed.

I own Rolex and some of the other top brands. My new Pepsi BLRO is pushing me more toward Rolex at the expense of the other brands. Game changer for me.

The only watch that interests me as far as higher end pieces go, would be a PP 5711 ...that’s really it

I absolutely adore the Rolex brand, especially the vintage pieces. If I could own a "higher end brand," it would be an ALS or PP. Although, due to the costs of those higher brands exceeding even many vintage pieces, I'm not sure I ever will own one. Which brings me back to Rolex, where I'm damned happy.

I love Rolex and 100% content with Rolex.

In addition to Rolex: I own Breitling, Omega and Oris.
But Rolex is superb: quality, piece of work, brand, advertisement, commitment, etc. is second to none.

Along with Rolex, I would like to own Patek Philippe (Nautilus 5712 and Aquanaut 5167). Only issue is: availability is soooo limited at AD and I do not prefer buying from gray marketers.

My ideal collection: 3-4 Rolex, 1-2 Patek Phillipe.

Rolex and Patek Phillipe

Not me. I mean no disrespect but these brands remind me of a music box with a dancing ballerina on top of it. I know they are the best we can find in this world but I don't have this level of sophistication. I don't go to operas, don't attend to classic concerts, I'm more like an ordinary guy from the block that drinks beer and smokes weed listening to rock cds. A sports Rolex is more than enough for me and even that is seen as a bit too much in my social context.

I would venture to guess that most that answered “ I have no interest in the other brands” have never had one in front of them. AP, PP and other are superb. I love my Rolex, wear them care free, but they don’t stun in the same way.

I would love to have an AP or PP someday but I will still be satisfied if I don’t get there. I have 3 Rolexes which is 3 more than I thought I would ever have before I got into watches. I’m very satisfied and I hope I don’t get any urges for the other brands...my wallet can’t handle it.

I don’t care for the styling of “higher” brands. Personally, I believe Grand Seiko to be a step above Rolex in terms of watchmaking, poor marketing and lower resale notwithstanding.

Is this actually true? Don't the super wealthy wear PP or RM?

Many wear something inexpensive or no watch at all.

Patek I get. They have some elegant, classic watches. But AP??? $30-40k for stainless steel on a rubber strap? Hard pass!

Do Rolex owners (secretly) yearn to own higher end brands: Patek, RM, Lange, AP, etc?

Yeah, you’re right. AP sucks...

And their rose gold is especially garbage. I’m bummed I got stuck with this one. Not.

No stainless steel here mister. I’m going to guess you fall into the “I’ve never actually seen one in person” camp.

I’ve owned most of the upper/higher end brands, much more expensive pieces, etc....Rolex was what I grew up knowing and admiring. My dad always had one I admired, and Rolex is like “comfort food” for me. The others just didn’t feel like home to me. I suppose lifestyle has something to do with it as well, but Rolex, be it SS, WG, Platinum, etc...is just what I like the most, what aesthetically pleases me most, and am most comfortable wearing
I’m in the same boat. I also had a nice Patek complication. I dropped it on the floor once and shattered the crystal. Had to be sent overseas to Patek to be repaired and took over 3 mos to get back. Last Patek I’ll probably ever own.

Didn’t say they sucked. That’s a unique watch. And of their models I like it the most. Just not my style. But $39k for a stainless watch on a rubber camo strap? Again, hard pass.

For me, a Patek 2499. That’s the grail. It’ll never happen and I know it. But I’m gonna admire and hope for a Powerball win or something.

I owned Rolex, AP, Patek, JLC & VC. By far I find Rolex offer the best value, robustness and versatility. But have to say Patek is in a different league in terms of finishing, refinement and class. Especially the Nautilus range, the movement is butter smooth and accuracy is tremendous. VC & AP ROO loses it’s magic on me after awhile. RM servicing cost is ridiculous, maybe will try Lange some day.

I have a ton of respect for the brands you mentioned; their level of finishing is on another level for sure. The styles generally don't appeal to me, so it's not something that is on my wish list. I do think the AP diver is a nice looking watch and some of the AP Royal Oak Offshore models, but there are other brands and styles that interest me more.

I’m blessed to have tastes that fall in the upper mid-tier. Rolex and Panerai give me the diversity I enjoy. I would however, consider a VC Overseas Chrono.

Nah I like the robustness of a Rolex watch. I've handled plenty of Patek and Lange over the years now, aside from movement finishing I can't say I'm impressed at all.
Only thing I'd want is a rose gold AP royal oak.

Have Rolex and am very glad I am not burdened with those other brands.

I would love a SS Royal Oak, its just hard to justify over double the cost of a Rolex. And I would love an ALS one day when I'm a bit older, the 1815 up/down is just stunning and great value second hand IMO.

I'm not secretive about it. In fact, my wife has told me to go out and buy the AP if it means she doesn't have to listen to me talk about how I want one.
