Promised Myself I Would Never Buy Another Rolex
I prefer to be considered a "bit different" than most people. For example my entire right leg is "sleeved" with an octopus and ocean scene.
Whenever I go to a mall or say Disney World I always count the number of Rolexes. It is not unusual to count 10-15 Submariners in 5-6 hours at times. Granted that some may be fakes however the majority are probably real. I was also wearing a Sub and realized that the watch was becoming so common that I sold it and bought a Panerai, sold it, bought a VC Overseas, sold it, and now own an Omega PO Chrono. When Rolex came out with the Deep Sea I was afraid to go on the Rolex website but I did. The Omega is up for sale and I have to eat my words. After they "fixed" the clasp and increased the size it is the perfect watch for me. Frankly I think this will be the last watch I ever purchase. |

I would say that spending the day looking at hundreds of wrists and "spotting" a few Rolexes is not a very good data set for commonality..
That's like going through a parking lot and "spotting" a few Bimmers and determining that they are common without also counting Fords, Chevy's, and Toyota's...... In any event.... It's good that you have finally come back to your senses.......

If you really wanted to be a "bit different" you would have no tatoos at all. They seem to be more like uniforms these days, imho.
Congrats on the DSSD. It's a monster of a watch. You sure won't run into many in the wild........at least for a while. dP

The DSSD is a cool watch--I hope you continue to enjoy it. At various times I have been in the "mood" to buy certain watches, so at different times I have done things differently. You have to follow your own muse, but often, that will lead back to Rolex.

But yes, buy the Deepsea!! It is the one Rolex that finally brought me over to the green box side of the fence, after being a Breitling and Omega guy (and Sinn, Doxa, Glycine, Fortis etc etc) for years. I think it is very nearly the perfect Dive watch. |

I was in Disney World in July, and I had the same problem. Many of the Rolex wearers seemed to be from England or Eastern European (Russian). I could see the watches from a mile away and I felt completely naked with no Rolex on my wrist. It's a disease I know, the last straw was when I was in this dessert restaurant in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, this young Asian gentlemen had an older Date Just on his wrist and kept aiming it at me. So I decided to purchase one from a fellow TRF member EddieHKG. Now the problem has been solved.

If you want originality, buy a Renato. They are really limited production and have great build quality. They are even available with ETA 7750 movements for those that only want automatics.
You will hardly find a wrist with those babies on em and they are affordable. |

Excellent choice in the DSSD!
IMO don't worry about what everyone else wears. There's a reason a lot of people wear Subs, or other Rolexes for that matter - it's the best watch! Good luck with your search! |

I had three really nice Rolex watches that were all I was ever going to need. And then I took a good look at the DSSD. Now I own four really nice Rolex watches.
You will not regret purchasing the DSSD. It is an incredible watch. |

Like that Deep Sea as well...
Go for it. How much are they anyway?
Love my Sub. Have not had a single question about it in the nearly 2 months I have had it. Debating my second Rolex...maybe a Coke? Air King? |

Nice choice, but judging by your history I do not fear that this will be your last watch. :)

Cograts on the Deep Sea. After a recent trip to Vegas I saw so many Rolexes on people and at the stores at the Wynn that my appreciation for Rolex has changed. I will continue to love vintage Rolex watches and a few of the new models including the DSSD and the GMTIIc (which I own). Therefore, I have decided to add another IWC Ingenieur to my collection. I just purchased the new IWC Ingenieru Mission Earth on SS and requested a rubber strap to add some variety. I should be getting it next week. Will post some pics then.
Kudos to all Rolexes produced before 2005 and to the very few that I like of the new models.

Lol! That's exactly what I was thinking. Big, ugly tatoos are a dime a dozen these days. Whatever "rebel" appeal they once had has long since fallen by the wayside.
