Apple Watch and go on a deep dive on Japanese watches.

A gorgeous 1970s Grand Seiko from Ginza or Nakano is a pretty unbeatable souvenir. Or, if you’re into moderns, Wako is the Grand Seiko Death Star.

There's a ton of regular editions you can only buy in Japan, too, so there's a real danger of impulse buying! That's how I wound up with this one in Hiroshima a few years back - and a few others since

Have fun, buy a Rolex GMT there with the favorable exchange rate. Wear whatever pleases you until you buy the new GMT

I just got back from Japan this past weekend. Went on vacation over spring break with the family. You will definitely walk a ton! I took my datejust which was barely visible because of my jacket. It was a bit cold and rainy some days. You should be there just in time to catch they cherry blossoms. What cities will you be visiting?

Oh I also picked up a watch while there. My first G shock, a GW5000U. Japan made with a steel core and screw caseback.

GMT or Apple watch! At the end of they day, you will most likely end up buying another watch while you’re there haha

When I go to Japan I always wear my GMT.

Nice to know what’s going on at home!

Tudor GMT makes the most sense. Put the Apple watch in your back pocket if you want to track steps or whatever. Who wants to spend a trip looking down at a hunk of plastic on your wrist? The Tudor will make you happier when you do.

I ended up wearing my Kermit. After I was on the plane I started to 2nd guess myself about not wearing a gmt.

Lots of people wearing 6-digit Rolexes here. Can’t say I’ve seen anyone wearing older Rolexes. On a train from Osaka to Tokyo now. Let’s see if I find anything!

Paper fedora. Bought it in one of those hat shops in tokyo loved it. Only problem is that hat wearing lifestyle with suits/sports coats are gone

And i got nothing! hahaha. Anything of interest for me wasn't readily available, not even the Breitling Top Time Deus. Would have been great since it's basically 25% cheaper after tax rebate and exchange rate. Completely sold out in Japan per the AD.

I also chatted up with the Vacheron AD. Overseas are "reserved" for locals -- corporate has told the ADs to only sell to locals.

Oh well. Didn't have a lot of time to go shopping anyhow. And now I'm back to reality and work today.

I will say watch spotting is quite interesting in Japan. Lots of cool eye candy here.
