New member and first-time Rolex owner!
Hi all,
I've been a lurker around these forums for a few years but never had the muster (or dough) to pull the trigger on one of my all-time grails (the 16600 or 16610). However, I have recently fallen for the Explorer II with its brushed bezel and a bit more stealthy look compared to the Sub or Sea-Dweller. And voila, I finally picked one up and it hasn't left my wrist since. Since I got into watches just over 2 years ago, I've been through 60+ watches and it took me that long to realize that nothing can replace the watch that you really want... well almost. I also currently own an Omega PO 2201.50 and Bremont Supermarine and on paper these watches edge out the Explorer II in almost every category except for the movement. But there is just something about the Explorer II in its entirety that just works and feels so right. The case and dial are simple yet elegant and it wears very comfortably. I had previously been totally against the hollow center links on the bracelet and "cheap" stamped clasp but I found these to be highly functional and comfortable. My eyes are opening to the fact that less is sometimes more. And my favorite part--mounting it on a bond nato. None of my watches have ever looked or felt better! Looking forward to being a regular poster around these parts and saving up for the next one, hopefully a 16600! And the obligatory low quality cell-phone pictures:   Best, Ross |
