Pledge membership 2023

Unfortunately I had to terminate my PayPal account because their terms are not agreeable anymore for me.

Is there perhaps another way to pledge for 2023 ?

You don’t need a PayPal account, just a credit card.

Cru and Mountainjogger;
They have become the thought police and want to impose fines of 2.5K as they seem fit.

HHislander;
For 2022 the only pledge option given by Steve was via PP, hence the question.

I don’t have a PayPal account either anymore. PayPal will let you pay the pledge fees with a credit card without an account, you’re just using PayPal as the credit card processor.

Drop a PM to Lol-x and ask him. Another member can pledge on your behalf and you can reimburse them also.

Can we pay with Krispy Kreme donuts?

Asking for a friend.

You don’t need a pp account to send money if you use a cc . Just to receive.

Click the pp link on Steve post

Add cc number and forum name

Send me $75 and I'll do it for you.

I don't know what the 2023 cost will be, let's just assume that the difference will be my processing fee. A little extra something for my trouble.

I've looked into this and insofar as I only use PayPal to pay for stuff and I am never in a position to violate their terms of service, I don't have a problem.

I have read that most of the opposition to their ToS is that PayPal will be monitoring activities on websites other than their own and will hold people financially accountable for any expressed opinion with which PayPal disagrees.

This does not seem to be the case in my judgement.

My interpretation is that if you abuse the terms of service to the extent that it costs Paypal money, they will levy a fine up to $2500US.

I'm not advocating for PayPal. I just think that the reaction is overblown for the majority of people who use PayPal.

I welcome any criticism of my assessment.

I am not interested in allowing a non-bank to arbitrarily forge a reason why I should pay a penalty when all they should do is process payments.

There are existing terms and consequences for illegal activities set forth by the justice dept, SEC and other federal oversight organizations...

Not only should Pay Pal NOT BE ABLE to penalize users, they should be made an example of by Federal regulatory entities overstepping financial boundaries.

The $2,500 fine has been part of their T&Cs since 2013 and the very recent “misinformation” clause (which aimed at preventing the spreading fake news/misinformation via their platform) was rescinded by PayPal after backlash from some people.

So, it seems the “controversy” is over and all should be back to business as usual.
