A month ago I was looking for another car after I was rear ended and my Accord got totaled. I always wanted a BMW since I saw License to Drive...the first movie I saw in the theater...so I finally got one.

As promised, photos of my new/used CPO BMW 325i a month later on a sunny day in the middle of winter in Texas.

Just some snapshots, so don't expect anything spectacular. :)

Hey, I've got the same car, same colour. I took it for a high speed run today as I live downtown and it's been 3 weeks and I didn't want to flat-spot the tires. Just love the car, lucky no tickets yet, doesn't find it's legs below 160 kph.

I hit 160 kph/100 mph every opportunity I get. The downside is I go through gas quite quickly that way.

I love driving in Canada because I can hit the 200 kph mark. It's a psychological thing since I know I could never do 200 mph in the States.

I've hit 200 kph in my car more than once... well, it sounds good anyways. Never been caught but I rue the day I do.

German built cars are truly endearing. I 'feel it' even though I'm only driving a lowly VW. Congrats!!

Oh I know that I can hit 200 MPH, it's the fact that my speedometer doesn't go that high and the Dallas traffic.

Were you on the North Dallas tollroad or George Bush tollroad when you hit 200 mph? And what were you driving since most cars are limited to below 160 mph.

The thought of a fast car in Dallas is funny. Anyone who's ever tried to get anywhere there will agree! It IS faster to go by bicycle, if you're not afraid of being mowed down. Make that, nudged over. You know, since traffic is just crawling. As if I needed to explain that. Um, yeah. Still, as Vu sits in traffic in his beautiful car his admirers will have lots of time to appreciate his automobile.

The traffic isn't bad outside of rush hour. I'll hit a 100 mph easily on I-35 after 10 AM and before 4 PM on the weekdays. Of course the toll roads are fun. Even though the speed limit is 60 mph, everyone averages around 70-80 mph. The new stretch from north Plano to Frisco is pretty empty.

I doubt many people would give my car a second look unless I'm driving in the not so nice areas. Dallas is one of the cities that has the most wealth per capita, so Audis, BMWs, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes and all those other luxury brands are pretty common. The only head turners are the Lambos or a Ferrari and you see a few of them within the year.

Back in 1999 Suzuki introduced the GSX-1300R Hayabusa.
It was the first bike to exceed 200mph off the showroom floor.
Guiness Book of Records has it logged at 204 mph in stock form, and a 1/4 mile run of 9.43 seconds.

About 10 months later, around 80% of those bikes did not exist anymore, and same thing could be said (sadly) about the people that bought one.

In 2000, Suzuki decided to start a "gentlemen's agreement" and detuned the motors and the gearing to prevent the bike from exceeding 186 mph /300 kmh. That agreement is now followed by all bike manufacturers.

The 1999 built Suzuki Hayabusa is the only 2 wheeled vehicle to ever exceed 200 mph of the showroom floor, and only a handful of them still exist.

I bought mine brand new in May 2000, and it was a 11/99 built bike. Red and Gray.
32 were sold in the state of TX, and as far as I know mine is the only one left.
A few years ago, Neiman Marcus (a super luxury retailer in US) wanted a red and gray Hayabusa for a photoshoot in their Christmas Book. They contacted Suzuki, and they were given my number. That was the only one that they knew of. Mine.

So my bike ended up in the Christmas book.

Anyway, my bike is slightly modified, and it has 182 rear wheel horsepower and a dry weight of 430 pounds. The motor has about 208 hp at the crank.

My top speed, as indicated by a GPS strapped on the tank was 216.11 mph, or slightly over 1.2 football fields per second. I try to not do that very often, but every now and then I get the bug and I take it up there for a few seconds.

Can't find a picture of just the bike anywhere, but here is my friend Amy riding my bike.
