China editions

I visited an AD and was told that there will be numerous special editions to be released for China, including a China wide edition (366), Hong Kong edition (402 and 412), Shanghai edition (410 and 420) and Taipei edition (403 and 413).

The 366 looks weid with a Chinese charater "Fu" down the bottom (limited to 1500 pieces.

412, 413 and 420 share the same front look with different back-cases.

402 and 403 are basically the same, 10-day automatic with different back-cases,

410 is 8-day hand wound model.

90% of the Chinese Singaporean Paneristi do not like it and feel that Richemont has lost the plot but don't take my biased word for it, read it all here: http://www.sg-roc.com/showthread.php?t=44962

Wonder if these will do the same as the Brooklyn Bridge PAM did and drop, drop and drop in price after people figure out it is not a collectors model and no one can see the city engraving since it is strapped to your wrist?

sorry to say I hate the special edition with the "fu" character on it.... i don't think it represents any DNA of the panerai at all... I am a chinese indonesian, but i see this as a joke just to capture some market exposure in china.
Just my 2 cts....

I like that brand as much as I like Rolex but they are screwing it.

A LE should stay a LE. That means not making a new LE every week !!

Well,...It's certainly got a lot of attention in the community. China represents a huge market, but you wonder sometimes if Panerai isn't taking the SE thing down the same road Omega has done with the Speedmaster.

I actually really like them, seems like a lot of SEs for one country but I like them. Especially the 412, 402 and i'd like to see the 410 too...

yup Mike....LE/SE should stay LE/SE... panerai is releasing more and more LE/SE that at one point in time, it means nothing compared to their non LE/SE product.

Maybe they should just call it an "edition." Not too special if they make so many of them!

Actually, they look pretty cool. I'd pick one on the used market for sure.

Richemont lacks creativity. Of all things they have to put a "fu" on the dial. Horror!

Ditto on that!

To be honest, most of the Mainland Chinese really only know Rolex and Patek Philippe.

Maybe they realized early on the criticism they were going to have about this model and it is meant as F. U.

The dial is kind of weird; that said, I love the back designs.

hahaha that's a good one.

in true chinese tradition, the "fu" should be inverted which means arrival of prosperity.

or maybe the designer was pissed with the management and just vented his anger with the "fu".

Jay no difference in this and the current PAM 270 J or K (not sure about L or M) and you can easily get a precared for, used 270J now for about 10k USD or a 270K for about 11K USD because retail for these is about 13 or 14K USD if I am not mistaken.

Ok there is one difference, this model has the city engraving on the back that as we have all found out via the big price drops for the Brooklyn Bridge model that those engravings on the back don't mean much nor do they hold the value. But you can take it off your wrist at night and lay in bed and wish upon an engraving.....
