116610LN vs. 116600 Comfort Issues.
So I recently sold my Sub Date due to the fact I could never get a comfortable fit and it drove me crazy. Even with the glide lock I could not pull it off. The other day I walked into an AD and tried the SD on and I was impressed with the look and especially the narrow lugs compared to the Sub. Even though it was thicker I wanted to ask those that own or have owned both pieces if the SD is more comfortable than the Sub despite the added thickness ? Does it flop around a lot ? Any help much appreciated here.

I owned the ceramic gmt, although not a sub, i would imagine wears the same. I sold this and now own a sd4k.
I love the sd4k and dont have a problem with how it wears but would say the gmt felt more comfortable on the wrist. And no it doesnt flop on the wrist. It is slightly top heavy. Its my favorite rolex and ive owned a few classic subs and new Gmt. |

GMT2C or SubC wears more comfortable than SD4K IMO.

I would've thought with the Glidelock you'd adjust to the perfect fit. I don't own the SD4K but I imagine being a bit thicker the comfort would be the same or slightly less than a Sub C

+1, I tried the SD and could tell right away that my sub fit me better overall, mostly due to the thickness of the case.

The glide lock is a great feature. Unfortunately, it is a big clasp. My wrists are 6.5". I don't have any comfort or fit problems with the case. However, the clasp looks huge and is too visible. That is my only disappointment in an otherwise perfect watch. If it were not for wanting to keep the set original, I'd trade the glide lock away. My $.02.

it really depends on the shape of your wrist - usually one or the other but not both, for me it was the sub C hands down.

I have Sub, GMT, SDc and think the glidelock clasps make a huge difference (even on my 6.5" wrist). I'd rater comfort as Sub > SDc > GMT.

It's easy to get a perfect fit with a Sub-C with so many removable links, half link and glidelock. If you could not adjust it properly, I highly doubt the SD-C will make you happy.

I had the same issue with my Sub C. I sourced a Ref 92810 Deep Sea clasp with dive extension, trying to get the same fit as my Deep sea. Mission accomplished! The Sub C now fits on my 8" wrist as comfy as my DSSD. Wow, what a difference. I find myself wearing the Sub more often lately.

I have a SubC, tried the SD4000 and flipped it right quick. I found it be too thick and top heavy. I get a great fit with the SubC.

I sold my SD4000 because it was too top heavy. The thick caseback makes the watch sit too high off the wrist. Went to a SubC and the lower profile was much better for daily wear.
Although for me, 16610 trumps both in terms of comfort. |

Yeah...I can't imagine that you will find the SDc more comfortable...hey, you never know, though.

If the SubC is a no go then I think neither is the SD, even though it looks smaller.

What exactly do you attribute your inability to get "comfortable."
Do you have a small wrist round wrist? It may be that you need a smaller watch. I.e. A DJ, mid-size Omega Seamaster or Speedy. |

Wrist size is approx 6 - 6.25" I can wear a Patek 5167 with ease. Not sure if it's because of the thinness or tropical strap or both. The Sub, despite adjusting, flopped around a lot. |

Yeah. Then SubC can wear big. SD4k is worst IMO. For a Sub, I would suggest a 16610 or even maybe a vintage Sub. Or the older SD maybe. I can see the modern case wear big on a 6 inch wrist. Some love it though.

Agreed. I find the 16610 more comfortable than both

I have both and the fit is fine. The SD is heavier though and I did remove the glide lock. I like them both.

The Speedy wins in my book for comfort. The SD4K is fine in rotation for me, but it definitely makes my wrist sore after wearing it several days in a row.

SD4000 is awesome. Fits so much better on my 6.5" wrist than the 16610. It is super comfortable. 116610 looked odd on my wrist when I tried it. The thick lugs are just too much. SD4000 is perfection for me.

Currently have two 116610's...LVN and LVC. Until recently, I also had a 16610 (or 3) in the rotation since approx. 1999. As well, I have tried on the SDC on multiple occasions, and really feel like they hit a home run w/ that watch by trimming down the Super Case.
That said, the 16610 with it's well proven Tuna Can clasp is by far the most comfortable of the three! Ultimately however, I found myself still opting for the Sub C's most of the time, as it is still very comfortable, and slightly edges out the 16610 aesthetically! |

I will say sub should wear more comfortable given the heft of sdc. But personal preference will differ.
