AD giving the wrong box

Anyone else deal with their AD giving you the wrong size box? Does this really matter?

AFAIK giving boxes is up to the dealer discretion. So there isn't a right or wrong box per se.

That said, this shouldn't matter if you were to sell the watch..
EDIT: Apparently, I am wrong on the sale portion

I was given the wrong tags once.
It was when Rolex had replaced the tags to green but my AD gave me an old style red one.

The were happy to change it.

I thought the larger boxes were for the big hitters such as the platinum Daytona etc?

Oh, it matters. It matters a lot when you go to sell. And there are different size boxes depending on the watch you buy. My Platona came with one specific to that watch.

I've bought mostly sport watches. Subs, Daytonas, etc. I have 3 different box sizes depending on the watch. SS subs were in a small box. The outer yellow box didn't have a flap that opens in the front. Two tone subs, Daytona, yachtmaster, etc. had a slightly larger box with the out yellow box that did open in the front. The Platona box is oversized and unique. Never bought a DJ or anything like that, so I can't really comment there.

I just bought a watch last week and had a conversation with a dealer about this. Apparently, each watch does have a specific box and it is actually noted on the white hang tag that comes with the watch (S/M/L). As mentioned earlier, it is dependent on the metal, with SS having the small box. However, I did ask for a Medium box for my SD43 and they were happy to make that change as there is some discretion allowed.

But to answer your questions, the box size really shouldn't matter for most watches but I would imagine if one was buying a PM watch, they would want the Large box.

Per your other thread, you’ll be able to tell us what the DJ box is like soon enough...

Depends on which watch you bought and which box they gave you.

My SD4k and BLNR came in the small box. My TT Bluesy in the medium size box.
