The Yen is stronger these days, so Japan isn't the best place for deals right now. There are a lot of reputable grey dealers where you can find inventory though.

Not really, the really sought-after SS & Professional models will not be shown in the display cases. There should be plenty of TT, WG Daytonas; DD's & Date-justs; YM & YMII, everose YM's at most AD's in Tokyo.

But the Japanese Yen is still a little high so there won't be any bargains.

The pound is in the toilet since the brexit vote, so the best deals are the UK.

Forget about bargains. You may on the other hand be able to locate some hard to find vintage piece. You will get your watch, but you will probably pay top $ for it.

If you want to buy a watch in Japan, then let me suggest Grand Seiko.

There is a thread from a member who went there recently and shared some pic.

You can see the prices and what models are available. Plenty by the way.

Not a whole lot to add here. You can find pretty much ANYTHING you want here new, used or vintage at Greys. Not at ADs. Nothing sought after anyway.

ADs don't discount. Greys are pretty firm in pricing as shopping tourists come here, don't negotiate and pay cash. The Yen is pretty strong. Lots to see, sadly nothing I'd buy.

But it is Japan so they should have a great time.

Have them enjoy the sights and food. i was there in March, nothing but SS DJ and YM. The SS sports that you probably want are either in a safe, out from the public eye or go straight to the grey dealers

Also anything sought after at a Grey will be at a premium. New like SS Skydwellers, SS Daytonas both Ceramic and non NOS, Ceramic Subs and GMT II Cs , used or NOS like GMTs and the older LVs.

The prices are to quote Otto, "Daunting for mere mortals."
