Thanks all. Here's the obligatory wrist shot (complete with stroller). Don't think I could have fully appreciated how great the SS looks in the sun.

Same thing happened to me. I stayed away from Rolex for the longest time and once I finally bought one, it wasn't long until I bought several more. Be careful, it is a slippery slope.

I've had an on/off thing going on with rolex too.
I bought my first sub a few years ago (pre-ceramic) and couldn't live with the cyclops. I also had issues with its bracelet and clasp.
I also am amused by people's need to defend the brand -.even against legitimate criticism. That said, however, those who attack the brand for the sake of it amuse me equally...
I also became embroiled in the "are they worth the money" debate on numerous occasions and now hold the view that of course they aren't - but if you want a rolex that's what you pay.
The fact that they become a default choice for so many, at the expense of diversity in the hobby, saddens me sometimes - as does the fact that some buy them as investment only - locking them away in safes and not using them as they were intended.
Their default nature and they way they hold value, however, can also be seen as a strong plus point for the brand.
Where l am now is this:- they make very good watches. I currently own a SD ceramic and it pretty much ticks every box for me. Tough, accurate, good-looking - no Cyclops either - which shows me there's a model for most people if you look.
