I drive a '13 Honda Accord EX I4 6MT and I own the Rolex watches to the left. Collectively, they cost a little more than my car.

It says that after putting five kids through college, grad school, lease subsidies, continuing cell phone and data plans, a couple of weddings and an indeterminate amount of leakage, it's amazing he wears a nice timepiece AND rolls in a 2008 Civic.

It says I am defined by the status symbols I can acquire so that i can feel superior to those who have less. How's that?

These threads make me love my Panerai. Stealth.

While I understand this poll should just be fun, I do think that there's probably more to gain if it's grouped by class (ie. compact/economy, luxury, sports, SUV, Truck) than by specific brands. Is there really a personality difference from driving a BMW or Mercedes or any of the other luxury car brands? I drive a car worth less than my watch, so maybe I don't fall into the typical luxury watch owner, as evidenced by your poll, haha.

Absolutely true; I can't believe that this make a lick of sense. Better off asking how much do you have invested in Cars, motorcycles, trucks, boats, and properties and watches. Why not just ask for yearly income while were at it?

Personally currently own four cars, one motorcycle, three boats and seven Rolexes. How does that compute?

Yeah, I'm a bit surprised that BMW is leading the poll. I kind of see Mercedes as being analogous to Rolex, and BMW as being analogous to Omega.

I've gotta be honest, maybe it's because I lived in the car culture of L.A. for the last 15 years, but I had no idea so many people who drive Hondas, etc. go out and spend in the 5 figures on a watch. That's pretty awesome.

these watches hold better value than any mass produced car today. I rather put my money in watches.

That's what you'll find. It's a watch forum after all. Don't ask what I drive btw.

I mean no offense by this at all, but I just figured that those who bought watches well into the 5 figures would be making enough money to not worry about loosing a little money on a $50K car or whatever. Honestly, I thought all of you AP and PP guys were wealthy. I had no idea how dangerous being a WIS can get. I love it!

Wow, I guess so. That's great. I'm completely content with my Sub, but, man, maybe I'm not doing a good enough job of convincing my wife how great of an "investment" these watches are. There is one grail that haunts me a bit at $50K, and I've set outrageous goals for my business before I'd ever buy one, but maybe that should change? It's probably the only thing that could displace a Sub, for me:

I'm sure no offense is taken. Personally, it's not about wealth, how much I make or worrying about loss. I just prefer not to lose. There are folks on here with car collections that would blow your socks off.

It's just a bit of a fun thread guys - no need to 'over-think' things.

and better than some 'is it safe to .....'

Unfortunately there was no 'Buggy: Pepsi' option.

Yeah, I personally always buy used for both cars and watches, but I loose more on cars. Granted, if smartwatches become ubiquitous over the next decade, I do worry that even Rolex level watches will take a hit on value, since there will be a competition for wrist time, and Rolex watches aren't exactly rare (outside of the some vintage models.)

I'm a little more bearish on watch values until we see whether smart watches take hold in the next 5 years or so. As I just said on another thread, forum WIS will still keep wearing autos, myself included, but I'm sure Rolex is a little nervous that the general population may find smart watches a necessity, which would create a lot of competition for the wrist. I'm not saying that autos will disappear, but I do anticipate that Rolex may not be able to keep up with making a million watches per year.

I can't vote because I have different cars. Most of you know how much I love the DJ's. The DJ's say that I am a serious person who has class, and my cars say I am stupid for having so many different cars.
