Your watch at airport security
Just curious to hear what you do when asked to remove your watch?
Do you remove it an put it directly in the little plastic box provided by security or do you put it in a carry-on bag so as not to scratch it? Or do you travel with the little green watch pouch provided by Rolex or something similar? I just got mine a few weeks ago and will be traveling soon. Might take the little green pouch/sleeve with me and put it in my carry-on bag just before security. |

Personally I've always left it on and they've never asked me to remove it. And I took about 25 US flights within the last 6 months.

I always place mine in my camera carry on bag long before getting in line

I've been required two times to take it off.
Mexico once and Chicago for the other. Just stuffed it into my backpack. Simple.

I usually just slip it in a jacket pocket and put the jacket in the bin.

I was leaving Vegas last week and had my 18078 on and out of habit I put it in with my stuff in the basket. I was then picked to be inspected further. And there were 2 ladies in front of me talking about how they refused to take off the jewelry they were wearing so they had to go threw the further check. I then asked the lady with the wand if I had to take off my watch and she said if it was a nice watch she would never remove it. So I then thought to myself obviously this lady wouldn't trust her coworkers or us and here I just stuck a $9k watch in a plastic bin that is now 20 feet away. And has armed guards between it to make sure I don't get to it before someone else does. I will not be removing my watches again unless told to do so.

I have never had to take mine off and probably would not, I would rather go through extra security.

I always take it off and toss it in the little tray. Once I forgot it, and had put my shoes back on before I realized my mistake, went back and got it. How stupid!
After reading this thread, I'll just keep it on. They can ask if they want me to remove it.

If I'm traveling alone I typically place it in my backpack in a travel case and don't really put it on until I'm sitting at the gate. If I'm in a group, surrounded by friends, I'll wear it.
A close relative had his Rolex Submariner stolen during the TSA walk-thru, so I'm overly cautious. |

I get asked to remove mine about 20% of the time, usually after I've already passed through the scanner. I place it in the bin and try to watch carefully.

I fly for a living and don't take it off. Sometimes I get asked and a friendly "It doesn't set it off" is usually enough to get me through.
Although in saying that, having stripes on your shoulders does help. |

I've never taken mine off or been asked to. Domestic or International flights.
If I Had to, I'd probably put it in my shoe or my shoulder bag.

Always shocked...when this thread comes up every 6 weeks or so... to see how many people remove their watches and place them into the X-Ray bins. Especially after having also seen so many actual videos of not only civilians...but even TSA agents themselves stealing Rolex watches from the bin.
In nearly 20 years of wearing Rolex watches and traveling both in the U.S., as well as internationally, I have yet to be asked to remove it...nor has it ever set off the sensor's. Additionally, it won't set off the sensors at your local courthouse either...and nor will the marshals ask you to remove it whilst your taking off your belt and letting them run your briefcase through the machine! Point of fact: High end stainless steel...is in itself Anti-Magnetic! Try sticking a magnet on a Sub Zero or Thermadore Fridge....or your Rolex Oyster bracelet. You will quickly find out that the high end SS used by all of these companies (and many others) will not allow the magnet to stick! |

Luckily I can fly armed, so I don't have to go thru security.

They make you take it off in the GCC. And they can be quite impolite when they speak to you about it.
I put my watch, phone, and RFID wallet in an inside pocket of my carry on before approaching the security queue. |

Unless they ask me to take it off, I never do. And it never beeps while passing the X-ray.
If I take it off I either put it inside my jacket pocket or inside my bag. |

I put mine in an Oakley watch vault but so far it only happens in other countries. Here at LAX they let me walk through with it.

Before I get to the bins I put my wallet, watch, phone, and anything in my pockets into my carry on backpack. The only things I keep on me are my ID and boarding pass.

I never get asked because my watch, wallet, phones, etc are already secured inside my carry-on before the checkpoint. Works at every airport around the world. Contrary to what some believe there are places that will make you remove them.

Never take it off... many years ago a security agent saw me taking mine off and told me to put it back on. I have never take it off at the security again.
