How about for stains? I think I remember someone mentioning treating suede with some kind of spray? |

Avoid choking your suede with a bunch of chemicals. All you really need is a suede brush. The bristles are stiffer than a normal brush, so keep it separate from your other brushes to avoid dulling the shine on the smooth leather. |

I haven’t checked in for a while. Some great acquisitions by members since I was last here. My own most recent additions:
EG Shanklin Mocha Suede. I have had these in Tobacco for some time and decided to add the same in a different shade. Have worn these a bunch this spring (EG file photo) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

New loafers just ordered yesterday. My friend Hong Lee at the JL boutique sends an update email and money seems to automatically be moved from my account. Should receive these this week.

I’m on the fence about getting a pair of Alden white bucks. Any advice? Would wear with khakis.

Wes, I think split-toe Norwegians are one of the most flexible styles that exists. Not as formal as an oxford, but formal enough to handle just about anything. It sounds like you need to shopping. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Same here, and it looks like we have similar taste. For some reason the Thorpe appealed to me more than EGs Nevis and I really think the MH71 Last really works well with not only the Thorpe but the Isham as well.

Wes, if you only knew. There’s at least one other member here who has failed to post his as well.

Really, you just can’t go wrong with certain shoemakers.

Dan is, and will forever remain, the King. I had some of my stuff posted much, much earlier in this thread, but pics appear to have been a casualty of the Photobucket mess. I will try to add some of those back in the future. But still, nothing like Dan’s collection of Kudu spectacularness. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

These were an MTO I did about 1 1/2 years ago. Wanted an Isham, but wanted something “heavier” for winter with thicker wool trousers. Did the black cross hatch grain and dainite soles. Not really so much a true dress shoe, but they have proven to be terrific when the weather is wet and nasty. Not Galway terrific, but still good. As much as I like the Isham, I think I like the Dover just a bit more for a true split-toe dress shoe. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

First pair! Viberg Service boots, in reindeer. I ended up with size 8, they’re very slightly big, but i’d rather have that than go down a half size and have them be too small.
The smell when you open the box is great! I am a little disappointed that both shoes have a spot on the front, but closer examination shoes there are similar spots in other parts of the shoe. I don’t think they’re from the leather itself, seems to be from the processing. Regardless, they’ll soon have plenty of other marks on them anyways. |

Although you may console yourself that you can get them on especially if you buy more better shoes and boots you”ll soon find too big is just poor or ill fitting. A little room is one thing but too big is sloppy and doesn’t wear well. Especially if you have to walk around in them very much. You can and should strive for better if that is the case. Even when spending much less and especially when spending that much this should always be the goal. However this can be a challenge when doing this over the internet and not and person. Styleforum, their users, and appreciation threads for various shoemakers can be rather helpful and make it a little less challenging but there’s no substitute for in person fitting. You’ll either find various sizes in certain Lasts to work better or at times certainLasts just don’t work for you. I don’t mean to be a downer but all of this is true. Bottom line is that often poorly fitting shoes are boots are either not worn or are resold as people discover better fitting options. Pics, Pics, Pics, I am sure we would all like to see PICs. pics pics
