UK Price list 1978

.

I need assistance from a (old enough) Uk member, to help me understand the difference between these 2 price lists from UK both dated may 1978.

MSRP are différents even if both lists have been printed at the same time. One have "C.I." printed on the cover page.

Could you tell me what this "C.I." means in 1978 ?

I believe this is correct.

I have seen price lists dictated as UK & C.I with VAT being the difference.

.

Thank you all, that must be that.

On the last page the standard price list shows "These recommended prices include VAT and although correct ..." when the C.I. list only shows "These recommended prices , although correct ..."

The price difference between them is from 25% to 35% depending on models. It's high, as I read that VAT was around 12.5% in 1978.

Maybe Channel Islands had special pricing.

Channel Isles is vat free, But we do pay tax at a flat rate of 20% you can divide the uk cost price by 1.2 to get the vat free price.

Thank you Adam.

There's a 21,7% to 21,9% difference. UK VAT was 15% in 1989. That may confirm that Channel Islands had special pricing lower than main Islands.

So interesting seeing all these old price lists. Just proves that those just joining the Rolex family are being well and truly shafted!
