Has anyone thought of using the chronometer function as a second time zone?

Some of the Tudor 12 hr bezels can accomplish this. If you're wanting a chrono/GMT, that's a great option.

So set off the chrono at midnight or midday in your second time zone and leave it running, thus giving you the time of second zone shown in the 3 sub dials. Interesting idea in a pinch, not sure if it's detrimental to the watch's movement for the chrono to be left running perpetually?

According to advice here and from Rolex UK absolutely nothing wrong with running the chrono 24/7.

All Rolex said was it might reduce the time scale for a recommended service from 10 years to 7 years. But would do no harm whatsoever.

I have done it on my IWC chrono a few times. It has a nice 12 hour chrono with the hours and minutes on the same dial which actually looks like a second time zone. It works, but it is a long way from a full GMT function. When you change time zones it has to be started again at midday/ mid night, and you soon miss the jumping hours.

My GMTIIc and PAM233 do it right. My Tudor Heritage is also better with the rotating 12 hour bezel.
