Rolex Datejust 41 value

I know that the datejust line doesn’t hold its value as well as the SS sports models but with the new datejust 41 do you think that trend will Change since it’s so new? Has the updated movement and comes in SS with a jubilee option? I can understand that the 36mm is not for everyone. And the datejust ii wasn’t as accepted as its proportions were a little off. Just curious because when I was looking to purchase a black/ blue dial jubilee fluted bezel model at my local AD I was only offered a 5% discount and it seems even the grey market the prices seem to be pretty close to retail.

If you can find one from overseas grey market (tokyo for example) you can get close to 20% discount comparing to US msrp.

push for 10 percent imo. you have to do better than 5 percent to make sense here.

I am the new owner of a DJ41. White dial, smooth bezel, Jubilee. It's one of the only models utilizing the 3235 movement. I would imagine that more models will use it down the road, but for now it seems to be selling for close to retail, even in the grey market. I bought mine from my local AD, and he said he couldn't give me any discount on this particular model. So I shelled out the full amount + tax. We'll see what the demand for them looks like in the months to come I suppose.

Yep. Seems to be the state of things these days.

In the old days of the DJ2, the discounts started soaring at about this time after its release. I don't see that happening with the DJ41.

The DJ41 is one of my favorites, no doubt. Recent posts have claimed discounts of 10-15% at some AD’s.

The DJ41 is at the beginning and not at the end of its production life, so I would anticipate out-the-door pricing will be slightly lower over time... With a new movement, new case size and bracelet, there is no improvement needed - maybe new dial options. I personally cannot think how it can possible get any better, so the design will likely not change. As more of the same flood the market, I presume price will eventually stabilize to the usual 10%+ off retail.

I recently ordered a DJ 41 from my AD (fluted with rhodium and jub), 5% was the most they would give me as well.

Rolex Datejust 41 value

I wouldn’t touch a DJ41 from an AD for anything less than 15%. Not for any other reason than it’s the right discount on this one.

The DJ41s - especially popular colors like blue, black, and rhodium, are harder to find than one might think. I almost pulled the trigger on a black fluted jubilee last night, as I can’t seem to find one anywhere else.

AD offered 6%.

I just put a deposit on a 41DJ blue with Jubilee and fluted bezel for 19% off from an AD. Could take up to 6 weeks to source though.

Either way, love the look of the watch. Was in between the rhodium and Blue and ultimately went with blue.

Wow 19% is amazing... and in Boston. You got the dj41? And not the DJII right? Which is size 41.

Just making sure but that’s hell of a discount

The DJs won't hold value because there are so many of them, they might be Rolex's best sellers but that is because they make so many of them, esp for ladies.

wow, 19%. I am just south of Boston, my AD is as well. They wouldn't cut me a break on my DJ41. I wanted it badly though, so I paid the full amount. Oh well, I am thrilled with the watch so it was worth it.

I tried the DJ41 on but went for the DJ36 in the end. I wanted to like the DJ41 due to its new movement and bolder size but the DJ36 just seemed to fit me better. The DJ41 is a great-looking watch though.

I wonder why they made the new DateJust in 41mm, but the new Day-Date in 40mm? Any views?

I don't know about other EU countries but in Spain you get 15% off standard. Also, VAT is 21%. So tax free if you come from outside the EU you're looking at 33% off (0.85 x 0.79). To which you add your country customs tax of course.

Not sure, but for me the DJ41 seems to fit me well. I own 4 watches (Rolex, Breitling, Tudor & Tag Heuer) so the 70 hour power reserve pretty much sold me on the DJ41. Movement is important to me, and the new 3235 movement in the 41 performs flawlessly. I gain about 1 second every 4-5 days.

I was back and forth between the DJ41 and the OP39, and the Datejust won (this time, lol).

That's interesting, my head said 'get the 41' due to the updated movement, power reserve and more modern size, but my heart said 'get the 36' as it just felt right to me. The 70h reserve must certainly be useful in a small rotated collection.

It definitely is. I rotate my watches every day, and do not use a watch winder. So the 70h reserve is great. My Tudor Pelagos also has a 70h reserve. The one I have to wind occasionally is the Breitling Superocean, but that's ok. All in all, I'm a big fan of the Caliber 3235 in the DJ41.

Congrats on your 36 though! You really have to listen to your heart with things like this. I almost settled for the Oyster Perpetual 39, but what I really wanted was the 41. Glad I listened to my heart as well.

The OP asked if the DJ41 will hold its value better. Not likely. The DJ41 is a commodity watch and eventually there will be many many many in the market place, and just like any DJ over history they just don't hold value as well due to the large supply. However right now it is still a fairly new watch and so discounts aren't as automatic. But I assume they will be as more are in the marketplace.

Thank you. With so many sports watches out there like the submariner why do those hold value so well? I have to assume they are mass produced as well. I know there are many different size and style Datejust models but with the new 39.5 inch Datejust 41 i thought they would be a little more valuable since they are accepted as a true Datejust 36 alternative.
