Welcome. I love rhodium dials, and the blue hands are perfect. The blue dial, though gorgeous, is just a bit too flashy for me. Platinum is no longer available in the 40.

Platinum dial because :

- the sandblasted finish is beautiful, truly unique and the perfect match for the platinum sandblasted bezel

- the "jewelry feel" of the solid platinum dial is stronger than a sunburst brass dial, if that makes sense

- it's discontinued.

- it's bound to be a classic. The previous (and almost identical) generation 16622 was worn by celebrities like Charlie Sheen, Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis and Russell Crowe, adding to the "cool factor"

On the minus side:

- you do need a lot of light to make it pop though, it will be understated under most lighting conditions as opposed to a much more responsive sunburst dial. Also, it has low contrast and some owners have reported legibility issues which I haven't experienced personally in 3 years ownership

- you've got to like the monochrome aspect of the whole piece

My second choice would be rhodium followed by blue. By the way dials can be swapped by the RSC if you fancy such change in the future. Two years ago I was quoted a very reasonable €450 in Spain (parts and labour) to fit a blue dial and of course I could keep the platinum dial (I guess cost might have increased since).

I'd vote for blue. That blue dial is mesmerizing and it makes the watch pop. To me, the Platinum and rhodium get lost a bit.

That said, if this was to be your only watch, then I'd go rhodium as it's a better daily wearer.

I'm on a rhodium kick right now, so there's my vote. Not 100% sold on the blue seconds hand, but I think I could live with it.

Rhodium is sick, my favorite in this lineup, excluding RG on OF.

Platinum dial. The sandblasted dial in combination with the bezel is perfection. And the red second hand and "Yachtmaster" text just pops off it.

I'm having a tough time deciding... :)
Now I am down to Rhodium or Platinum face.
I am looking for an all occasion watch. Casual and dressy.
Not sure would Rhodium would fit that. The platinum face does look nice, but quite boring (plain jane).
Please keep the comments coming! :)

Blue.......reason is because it's awesome lol.....seriously, I considered the rhodium but it underwhelmed me in person as did the OP with a similar dial color.....I don't think the watch pops enough with the all platinum face dial. The blue is to die for and extremely dynamic.....one of the best sunburst dials Rolex makes IMO....heavily underrated.

The Rhodium dial with the contrasting blue hands looks awesome in person.

I'm with you there - Rhodium or Blue... like most have said, rhodium is probably more befitting a daily.... but the blue dial is gorgeous!
