The Skydweller has a special patent which is only applied to PM pieces
Read below. Check every single picture of a PM Skydweller. They will ALL sit upright. http://www.thewatchnerd.co.uk/righting-the-rolex-crown/ |

Right....I've given this matter considerable thought. (16 seconds) If the coronet was recessed and under an itsy-bitsty cyclops? What, could POSSIBLY go wrong? OK........I'll get me coat. |

I had the same thought with my watch. For a company that aligns its marketing in search of perfection, isn't this just laziness that they don't line it up? It's obviously possible, since it happens by chance, so I can't imagine they need a special patent to just manufacture the pieces so that they fit together with the logo facing upwards.

Man, threads like these make me happy I'm not a "detail oriented" person.

Considering Rolex is such a vertically integrated company and how they talk about precision and whatnot, I can't believe that Rolex can't index thread the crown and tubes. It's not exactly high-grade machining magic to index threading. It's obviously a big enough deal that Rolex's promo ad's all feature them perfectly aligned. At this level of watch, little details like this SHOULD matter.

New watch crown position
I’ve had two watches ever that had crowns that lined up perfectly, both divers. One was a 14060M and the other a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe.
As the seals wore down within the crown mechanism over the following months of ownership, both crowns gradually made their way around when tightened. I still own my Bathy, and the crown logo now faces the 7 minute marker, if imagined against a watch dial. It doesn’t bother me in the slightest. |

I’m really confused. The crown on the crown can be rotated 360 degrees in any direction. Can you just wind the watch, screw in the crown, and if it’s off, unwind and change the starting position before you screw it down so it’s perfect??

This is how mine is on my gold sub, wish it was perfect. My 114060 has a perfect straight crown position as well as my AP 15400 |
