Love the Pelagos blue, Angelo...very solid choice, IMO.

Also, the blue Omega sea-master is one of my favorite (if not the favorite) non-Rolex watches I've owned.

So...if I were in your shoes with your criteria that you've set, those would be the two I would be looking at. Good luck!

Thanks Larry. They both fit the bill.

Hi Angelo, you'll love the Pelagos Blue. It's light in weight, light-hearted in nature, it's beautiful, it's comfortable, it has a unique looking blue dial, it's fitted with a robust movement, and it's a lot of fun to wear. Best regards, -Rick.

There are a lot of great choices here. I checked out the IWC Pilot 36 & found the blue too dark, satiny but too dark for what I was looking for. The Omega Aqua Terra was a nice piece & the old vertical lined model pre 2017 can still be ordered from Switzerland if you like that one. An AD last week told me that he had ordered quite a few of the new blue dial BB 36 & 41 as he felt they were going to be great sellers. They wont be available till summer in the larger sizes but he said that the lacquer blue shade is between a Pelagos & Style if that helps. The Seamster is definitely a lot of watch for the money so if you are looking for a diver style, I'd go for that one. :-D

Great photo Rick. It looks terrific.
And I love your description of the Pelagos as light hearted and fun to wear. Just checks that box for me.
Although not similar in any way, I feel the same way about my Nomos Club. It’s a fun watch to wear too.

My boss has a blue Pelagos. I always thought it looked a little too bright in pictures, but in person it looked great.

I say go for it!

I actually have never seen it in person, only the black.
Thanks to Tony (pain888) I now know that my Rolex AD now carries Tudor and they have the blue Pelagos in stock so hopefully next week I値l pay them a visit.

One more worth considering: Zenith. May not be the style you're seeking, but they are about the most affordable of the true manufactures, and have been the movement of choice for others' high-end chronographs for decades (including, for a time, the Daytona).

These aren't chronos, but each are quite lovely and make good alternatives to IWC:

Thanks for the tip Danny.
The first one, although beautiful, is too dressy but the second one (Pilot) is interesting.

Her blessing is no longer a factor.
She has her vices (shoes, handbags, and jewelry) and I have mine...things that go bang and watches.

Pelagos is a great watch. Super cool modern vintage fusion. Beveled lugs, pointed crown guards, snowflake hands for the vintage feel. Modern movement, clasp, and titanium for innovation. I really liked it when I had one, but unfortunately sits a little to high on the wrist for me. Since you have a BB and like it, the Pelagos should be perfect!

I disagree. One of the drawbacks to the Omega is the AR coating on the outside. You have to be careful with it, or you scratch the AR coating, which then appears to be a scratch on the dial.

Then, you have to decide:
1) live with it till service
2) have a jeweler remove AR coating
3) send it in for re-coating

Sort of defeats the purpose of a sapphire crystal'd tool watch, no?

I have no issues with scratches elsewhere, but a "scratch" on the crystal i cannot stand (same for sunglasses - i only buy glass for this reason).

Edit: that pelagos looks amazing.

So I took a trip to the AD today to see the Pelagos in the flesh for the first time. I was not disappointed which reinforced my initial opinion on the watch.
The blue matte dial is a stunner and the bracelet is a true work of art.
It wears much like the Black Bay, very comfortably.
I知 not ready to buy just yet but this looks like the one.

I loved the looks and feel of this watch.
If a serious dive watch can be described as playful and fun, this is the one.

May I suggest Ulysse Nardin Michelangelo Chrono?
It is definitely not a tool watch, but I've never seen more vibrant and beautiful blue dial as that one has.

I never brought up the subject Tony cause I knew I wasn稚 ready to buy today. Not that I知 undecided about the watch. I just don稚 have the money for it right now, which is typical of how I buy watches.
I zero in on what I would like, set that as my goal, and set aside some discretionary funds each month until I知 ready to pull the trigger.
This will be the one though, and thank you again for letting me know that WB now is a Tudor AD.
