If you can recover the money you gave, do it without hesitation. Have the money back in your pocket is the best thing that can happen to you.

Check the fine print in the receipt. Does it say “estimated delivery date” or anything like that? The ADs can’t control Rolex supply issues, nor can they predict the popularity of any model watch. Hard to believe any AD would commit to a firm delivery date.

Sorry, but even the slowest AD gets two Daytona's per year, you are being deceived one way or another. I think your SS/India logic may have a small flaw, since it sounds like deep pockets are getting their stock. Get your money and run.

2) If the dealer is willing to give you your money back, thank your lucky stars and do it...immediately. Rolex AD's are getting their accounts pulled all over the world (including big chains being told to consolidate their locations). If this dealer gets pulled because Rolex wants another dealer to fly the flag or whatever, then you are screwed, especially if they go out of business.

3) Don't do this again. Ever.

The End

Then you have nothing, even Rolex won't care as this watch not going to greys is their only priority and this AD seems to be ensuring that, and ADs have no idea how many or when they will get Daytonas so they gave you a best guess and well within the margin of error, given whales swooping in. Get your money back.

I asked my coworker last year to order a DaytonaC in India for me. He contacted his circle of friends in India and said they're selling them for 17K :). Since it's a hot item, they're selling them above MSRP. But then again, you know the country more since you spend 6 months over there every year. Let them keep your money. In the end, you MIGHT be a proud DaytonaC owner :)

You base a decision on a bunch of Forum members who may not have ever set foot inside a dealership???

Write a proper letter to the Dealer and ask when you can realistically expect them to honor their contract. cc both Rolex and the India equivalent of the Better Business Bureau.

Official correspondence usually always gets a better result than the wringing of hands and vocal/phone blustering.

I was in a similar situation with a Milgauss GV when it first came out. I waited about 4 months and when I found out that the salesperson who sold it to me left, I asked to speak to the manager. I did not know at the time that I was speaking to GM of all there stores. Of course he apologized and I had the watch in a few weeks. Keep your cool, and work you way up the ladder at the AD. I'd also follow Larry's advice as well. Good luck

Perhaps they know that you're in the US and used to US prices, and saw an arbitrage opportunity. If the OP is a "local" and dealing locally, he's probably playing the local game, based on local demand.

A smarter plan: Call DavidSW and ask him his price to source the watch.

A lot of people in this thread are giving him grief about placing an order 'halfway around the world'. Don't get me wrong, I agree with everything else said and how he should immediately accept that offer for a refund. It you can't mock him for placing an order at an AD that is local to him for half the year,

It take my money back and go find another AD that can deliver on their promise. And this is exactly why most ADs don’t take deposits.

Apparently it is.

just get your money back.

hoping and wishing the AD gets you Daytona is silly.

1) you don't know when they will take delivery of one
2) you don't know if have taken delivery of one and sold it to someone else or grey dealer for more money

If you TRUST them then wait, but complaining to Rolex won't do any good. You will just have to suck it up and hope/wait that the AD delivers in a timely fashion. Yes, I know it is beyond 12 months, but if they don't have one to give you there's nothing they or you can do.

If you don't trust them then you know what you need to do

I'd say they owe you the watch since they took your money (ages ago). Ouch. Imagine them partying with it.

Yes since Rolex has nothing to do with their selling dealer

gently get a refund first, then if you want to file a report, you could still do.

i really don't think it has anything to do with India. Ive heard similar stories from AD's in the US, Europe Etc. AD took payment and over promised and under delivered. Its par for the course everywhere.

I don’t believe they could do this. Could only reach out to the dealer and tell them to take action. I would involve an attorney since they committed to a date contractually.
