Probably an Apple watch.
Far more gadget opportunities, and a richer sponsor. |

Well, in the last novel published with permission of the estate, it was a 34mm OP.

Whatever the Royal Navy is issuing now so I guess a CWC or a Pulsar and both are quartz.
There is no way with cost pressure he would get anything else. |

007 once told me that he is still on the waiting list for a Steel Sport Rolex Watch, so it’s going to take sometime before wearing it on a movie...

My point is he wears what he's told to. Not very romantic, rugged, or individualistic.

The literary Bond chose his watches, at least sometimes. So if OP is asking what the Fleming Bond would wear today, then we are free to speculate. Of course, the movie Bond is a whole other matter: the character is directed what to wear by Q branch, and the filmmakers' choices are dictated by a product placement agreement.

✓If you only knew the real story behind the modern James Bond, and debunk all the myth. It was not Barbara Broccoli but the costume designer, Lindy Hemming, a veteran of 5 modern James Bond movies who chose the Omega Seamaster 300M Diver for Pierce Brosnan, Omega was then approached and the rest is history https://www.livemint.com/Leisure/f0x...Like-Bond.html ✓Did you know just before filming began on GoldenEye , Pierce Brosnan actually resisted and wanted Bond to wear a Cartier?( Given to him by his late wife) ✓Omega paid much less than you'd think ( less than US$ 1 million for Daniel Craig Bond movies-except Spectre which was considerably much more) And that famous conversation between DC and Vesper Lynd " Rolex ? No. Omeeega " dinner on the train line? Omega had nothing to do with that. That dialogue was masterly crafted by the scriptwriter who had no association whatsoever with Omega |

Well considering Bond served with the Shaky Boats then it would have to be the SD43.

Lots of budget cuts at MI6, so he'd probably have a G-Shock.

What watch would Bond wear today?
My guess is James Bond does not have the patience to wait for a SS Sports Rolex so he will end up with a DJ or an Omega
Bond: “I’d like to buy a Submariner, Rolex Submariner, no date please. AD Sales Guy: after stopping himself from laughing... “sir, these are in very high demand. Have you purchased any watches previously from us?” Bond: “Why yes, I bought an Omega a few years ago!” AD: Now in a rude tone of voice... “I’m sorry sir but if you want that watch you’re going to have to buy a gold DayDate also” Bond: Bond: Bond: “just give me another Omega” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I can see it going down like this in London... AD: A SD43? No chance, sir. There's a very long waiting list. JB: Do you know who I am? AD: No, sir. Do you? JB: The name's Bond. AD: Rings a bell, sir. JB: Bond. James Bond. AD's eyes brighten with sudden recognition. AD: Yes, sir, of course, sir. I shall put you down in fourth place. |

Incidentally, I'm not sure the literary Bond would be wearing a Rolex if written today (nor do I think he would wear Omega). He owned his OP, in the novels, essentially as a practical tool, not as some kind of luxury item. (The books did not shy away from showing his expensive tastes in food and such, so if Fleming had wanted to make him a watch lover wearing Pateks and the like, he could have. He did not.) In the 50s, the Oyster Perpetual was your best bet for a waterproof, rugged watch that stands up to abuse without manual winding. Today, that field has democratized quite a bit, both among cheap automatics like the Seiko 5 and quartz watches. |
