That's why I suggested the Explorer I, but if you don't want color and want "more from your watch" perhaps you should be considering a black GMT II or Submariner Date, both of which would fit with your lifestyle perfectly.

I’m going to join the minority and say get the AK. You can always get a DJ later, and enjoy wearing something really different now.

Hasn't been mentioned yet, but how much do you value the date complication? You're used to a BLNR which provides both muti-time zones and date complications.

I'd say go with the DJ and fluted bezel. Even if you don't do the jubilee bracelet, the fluted bezel with oyster still looks great. Also think that configuration looks great with a white dial if you're open to considering that.

I was in a similar situation as you. I really liked the date just 41 with oyster band. But for a everyday wearer give the jubilee another look. I hated it when I first saw it. All I could think of was that it looked like a grandpa watch. But as a everyday wearer it can’t be beat. My wife has a date just 31mm about 2 years old and it still looks brand new! I have had a few rolexes with the oyster band and it was scratched in less then a week and I am very careful with it. I like the look of the smooth bezel but for the same reason I got the Jubilee I got the fluted. Hides all scratches. The jubilee is the star of the show the way it reflects the light. The fluted Bezel doesn’t bling the same way as the Dj II. It’s smaller so from a distance you won’t even notice it. I would have went smooth but there is no way I could spend 7k plus on a watch and see scratches on my bezel. Fluted is the way to go. On the AK the no date that already is a no for me. I at first liked it but after looking at it, it looks like a Rolex of spare parts. Has the explorer 3 6 9 but then 5-10-3-20-25-9-35…etc. the clasp is old school. The green and yellow would look bad against any type of red shirt or colors like that. I think the AK is like a cute girl from a distance but upon closer inspection you realize you had one too many drinks. Lol

DJ41 blue dial on oyster. I tried on a jubilee dj41 and although very comfortable just doesnt look right to me on a 41 it does on a 36. Much prefer the oyster bracelet on a 41!

Yes BLNR has been sold.. months ago.

That fluted bezel on black does look good.

Still much prefer oyster to jubilee though

I was in the same position as you. I went with the Air King. I wasn’t disappointed or in regret! Love mine.

I don't dislike the Air King quite as much as others here, but it's not my favorite piece either. I think personally the dial is a bit too busy, making it a very casual piece. I think the DJ (my personal choice would be blue dial, fluted bezel on oyster) is a more versatile piece given what you wear. I don't think it would look too out of place with a t-shirt and jeans, but it would definitely look good with everything else.

If you are very conservative, the DJ, if more forward thinking, the AK. If the BLNR was actually an issue for you, I think you are firmly in DJ territory. Don't buy any watch that is more contemporary or trend forward, you won't be happy.

DJ all day. The Air King has always looked straight up childish to me, compared to pretty much every other rolex model

Never understood the air king but hey if you like it, that's all that matters. DJ on the other hand, you can't go wrong.

I'd vote for the DJ41 in rhodium with smooth bezel and oyster braclet. This is an extremely versatile configuration you can wear from work to casual and everything in between. You will not grow tired of the beautiful dial either. Good luck in your decision and enjoy whatever you choose. Cheers!

Have been leaning towards the AK for something different plus my AD will sell it for 5,900 and no tax.

However this pic and the one above are really sealing the deal on the DJ1 I posted.

It's listed at 7,350. What should I expect to pay for this piece. 2nd purchase from AD and from what I read you should never pay full sticker for any Date Just.. would 7k out the door be reasonable ?

I think the DJ 41 with a smooth bezel would be the best of both worlds. A little more casual, looking, but can be dressed up nicely as well.
