Tried to buy a Rolex and walked out with these instead
My bro-in-law tried out my SD43 and Sub, he loved the SD43 and my sister asked me to help buy her a SD43 for my brother-in-law. Again I tried at local ADs and was told that they have received less SD43 than SS Daytona so far. So I informed my sister of the bad news and she asked if I could get the Submariner instead, well I told her no Submariner neither.
She will skip the Rolex altogether and get him a new car. The amazing things is there was no customer in these Rolex ADs and I walked in to buy a Rolex and walked out with these promotion magazines for watches they don't have. A loss for Rolex IMO |

I am sure the AD has lots of Rolex watches sitting in the case. They are just not what you were looking for.

Must be awful to sell a product that they can't get in to sell.

This situation is really starting to become ridiculous. Rolex should make sure that ADs always have at least 4-5 SS Submariners at all times with more Dates than ND for obvious reasons. When people can’t walk in off the street and buy a new Sub there’s clearly a problem. The Submariner is not a Daytona. They’re making a big mistake by holding back production. This new CEO, Mr. Dufour is a jackass.

Small world. Got the same treatment at the AD. At least I received a catalog with a picture of the watch I wanted to buy

Rolex is big and doesn't care about short term situation but many of these ADs are independently owned, they need to pay their rents, sale persons, security, insurance, bills,... how can they afford to sit around watches that don't move yet don't have the watches they can sell? |

Wouldn't a SD43 (even with the gray market surcharge) still be cheaper than a sports car? I hesitate to recommend anyone pay a surcharge for gray market, but it might be a win-win in this case.

It's never a loss for Rolex. People are still buying their watches.

Same in my town. Impossible to get any SS models at AD. I actually think the ADs and gray market dealers are rigging the market together. Not difficult to get a SD43 if you are willing to part with US$15000 or more. But still no shortage of takers - the more scarcity the more people want them.
