Received a new to me broken Rolex

So I recently got a small bug of getting into Rolex’s. I bought my first Rolex around a week ago and wanted another more casual one for everyday use as the other one stands out too much!

I just received it today and when I went upon setting the date and winding it wouldn’t pass the 3 o’clock position https://youtu.be/a02Ozk344LY.

Contacted the seller his exact words are “shake the watch it’s an automatic”. He said it was recently serviced and has paperwork to prove it. My question is who the hell misses something like this???

You can hear it ticking. Open the back up and see if you got hosed. What'd you give for it?

The hour hand is bent downward and is hitting the date window frame causing it to stop against it. The hour wheel is just turning inside the hand barrel when you continue to wind it. Stop trying to wind it when it stops, it is only damaging the hand.

whatever it is, it doesn't seem that your seller was totally honest with you...

So this is the more casual one, that doesn't stand out too much...?

And what is your other Rolex then ? Just curious...

Indeed it seems this is what's happening. But are you sure the watch is legit ?

Shouldn't the hands move clockwise when you turn the crown forward?

Aftermarket meteorite dial. Dude, stop turning the hands. The hour hand is catching on the frame of the date window. You risk turning a simple hand fitment issue into an expensi.. He's gone.

Just watched the video.....the watch is broken, send it back for a refund......that’s like buying a car and the steering wheel will only turn left....completely useless......whether there’s paperwork or not the watch ain’t doing what it’s supposed to do....refund

I don't like the looks of that watch personally. Not sure if it is real. Return it if you can. Even if it is real any watch can be screwed up by bad care. When was it last serviced? Like others said, "Don't make it worse if it is real."

Isn't the second hand supposed to stop when turning the minute hand?

That's what I thought

Also while winding forward the date changes from 8 to 9 over an 8 hour period.

I'm not familiar with older movements so this may be correct and I'm happy to be educated on this but to my untrained eye I'd be suspicious.

Depends if its genuine if it has the cal 3035 hands turn counter clockwise with forward winding, cal 3135 clockwise dial is aftermarket and bezel.

My question is, who sends a bunch of money to a seller that they don't trust or they don't know for a fact stands behind their product or if the product is authentic or not.

I just don't get it. Good luck with whatever that watch is.

If it's for real: very sorry for your loss, OP. You just bought $50 worth of costume jewelry. I hope you get your money back.

You tube.

And this was the advice given by a well wisher on youtube.

tom thompson4 hours ago (edited)

i normally lay mine face down , and tap the back firmly with a 2lb ball pein hammer when mine do this ,,, if that doesn't work , try the same action with the face up ,,, as there is a slight spring in the crystal you may need a firmer tap ,,, cover the crystal with a tissue first of course to prevent any scratches, this re aligns the hand stack into its factory default position.

Perfect, if it doesn't work, hit it with a hammer

1) Offrdmania has already diagnosed the problem.

2) Watch was bought on Ebay and is a genuine model, I will not be saying who the selller is because he is giving me a full refund and has apologized.

3) I really like the look of the watch but I don’t want to deal with items that don’t work 100% from the start.

4) I don’t have tools to take off the rear to authenticate I was going to go to today to a watch place to authenticate it and do a pressure test but I won’t be doing that.
