We can clearly see that modern dials are going to get a patina (love it or hate it) but are the bezels on the GMT and sub going to look brand new forever?

You could have a sub with a ‘tropical’ dial and that may be desirable for some (I quite like it) but isn’t it going to look like you’ve slapped a new bezel on a vintage Watch in years to come? Imagine a tropical dial GMT faded brown and a brand new bright bezel, would look really odd.

One reason why I don’t like ceramic (apart from the initial look of it new anyway) is this ‘selling point’ that it won’t scratch or fade.
This is the most well-worn example I've seen of a modern ceramic Rolex. I don't think it'll look bad if the dial fades and the ceramic remains. I wonder if ceramic dials are in the future to avoid this, though. Isn't Omega already doing that?

Wow! I somehow missed that post. That's one well used and enjoyed GMT. With all of the gardening I'm sure it's been through some actual sh!&. Fertilizer, manure, cricket crap...you get the idea.

Value's just gone up, whether Rolex like it or not. They'll try to replace the dial at the next service, don't let them.

Really nice! I have never seen this kind of patina in modern rolex! Thanks for sharing. I think it looks great!

10000% leave it as is!

Look at all of the vintage pieces - those with the most original pieces/parts command the higher premiums.

Kind of wild - I've never seen a modern Rolex with fading like that on the dial.

Well, all it needs is some rusty hands and people will pay thousands more for a beautiful "patina"

Definitely leave it and make sure Rolex doesn't change it next service.

Fading into a very interesting grey color.

Remember to describe it as a unique "Beach Glimmer" when you advertise it.

I didn't realize it could happen that fast. Then again, it was the beach everyday.

Glossy dials won’t fade like matte ones. So a submariner dial won’t fade like the one on this milgauss.

I guess I need to be careful. I once did see a bleached out 16613 blue in Florida.

Wow, UV is very nasty and has sucked the life out of that dial but it looks fantastic. I have a guitar that i played in the garden for years that has bleached on one face too.
