Currently splitting up with the missus and buying a new build apartment.
Had to let one go to pay for some spiffy bathroom tiles (not the ones in the picture, they’re in the property I’m moving out of). Didn’t want to, but given the circumstances, letting the Pelagos go seemed like the least painful outcome with the best chance of getting back again. Sold via my AD on a commission sale basis. They actually got bang on the Chrono 24 estimate for it and took a fixed commission as I’d purchased it through them Interesting exercise though. Often see posts on here about AD’s selling pre-owned at higher than retail, and guess commission sale for customers maybe accounts for some of that. I do miss it, despite only having had it a few months and would like to get another once the new apartment is built and furnished. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

On the Rolex front, I've only ever truly regretted selling one - my original 116710BLNR. I wanted to buy something else and at the time I thought I couldn't justify keeping the BLNR at the same time. I very quickly realised my mistake though and I rebought a new 116710BLNR as soon as I could, and it'll never be sold again.
That said, at times I've also kind of regretted selling my 16610LV, but never enough to consider rebuying it... and certainly not at the ludicrous prices they go for today. On the flip-side, I've regretted NOT buying two others - a 116600 SD, and a 214270 Explorer. The SD just struck me as a bit too small when I tried one on at an AD years ago, but at the time I was mainly wearing Breitlings, so my opinion on size was somewhat skewed! If I had my time again, I'd have jumped on that one immediately. And unfortunately I came too late to the party on the 214270. I only really started to appreciate it enough to want one at the back end of last year, and my AD wasn't able to get me one before it was discontinued. And now greys seem to want twice RRP for anything NOS... |

GMT Coke.
Bought in 1998 for £1100 Sold it a few years later as not that bothered about watches at the time and made a couple of G on it. Not so much for what it’s worth now but I really regret selling such a classic piece. Couldn’t bring myself to pay what they’re asking now after what I originally had it for. No massive regrets ... there's a few I wish i could have held on to ..
Wish I'd have held on to the LVc for another year (purely for greed) No regrets getting rid as I didn't like it & never worn it. Miss the 16600 SD & 14060m 4 liner sometimes Possibly regret selling the 1680, but needed cash to get out a hole (COVID), so can't grumble Quite happy with a 3 watch collection nowadays. Pretty much wear the BB58 blue every day anyway. Selling has either allowed me to buy something else or provide some finance in tough times. In an ideal world I'd have kept all my watches but I'm happy to have owned and enjoyed the watches I've had over the years At the end of the day, they are just 'things' .. can't have real regrets

Pretty much selling anything I've ever had due to how values are currently, but also not buying more pieces as well. Wish I'd bought a 1655 a few years ago when they were £12-15k, now they're double that I just can't justify it.

I regret selling my M serial 16610 Submariner. One of the best fitting watches on my wrist I now realize.

Regrets trading the OP 39 white for a 1993 SD. Only as I could have afforded to just purchase the SD at the time.

I regret passing on the 116610LV an 116710BLNR the numerous times my AD offered both. At the time I was considering the 116500LN instead and waiting, but now decided to stick to my 116520 white as my only SS Daytona.

Don’t feel bad. In 1999 I passed on a Patek 3700 at retail.

I've probably sold or traded 10 Submariners over the years. Not because I didn't love them, or for a profit (I never made anything) but just because something else caught my eye and they were easy to replace back then. I don't regret any specific one any more than the rest, but I do wish I still had one of the 14060s.

I regret six Rolex I no longer have. For some, it was the journey to where I am now with my collection. I still have 5 but I regret some that I can’t even discuss it here!

I've also sold some other brands as well. All good. |

I regretted selling my Polar Explorer 2 so much that I bought another one ! Sadly it doesn’t feel the same and I don’t wear it. I would have no regret if I sold this one.

I don't sell watches, but just reading this, it seems the best rule of thumb is to only sell watches that you really regret buying.
Selling a watch because you're not wearing it seems silly to me. Some of my watches just sit at the bank on in my watch drawer for a long time before I get around to wearing them and then, I just wear the hell out of them. Financial problems are another thing all together. Sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do.

Sold a Patek 5167 stainless Aquanaut for low twenties. They had begun their increase by then.
Oh yeah, there was the Patek 5711 stainless white dial at MSRP (~$24,000 in 2012). It was in the case in San Francisco when I stopped by after some business meetings. I could not reconcile how it was more expensive than my green dial YG GMT-C, at the time. At least it screamed in price. |

I kind of regret picking up my Reverso. I like it but barely wear it. I have more money tied up in it than any other. Hard to see the value.

REALLY regret selling this RG DD, right before prices skyrocketed
worst decision was selling the rm10, not only do I miss it but 11 months after selling the watch, it appreciated by more than 100k
