James Cameron's watch of choice? The James Cameron!

For any filmmaking fans out there, James Cameron released his Masterclass today. Definitely worth a watch if you like his movies.

In the class and in the promotional material, he's wearing a 116660 Deepsea. I usually see him wearing a 116610 Submariner Date, so it was fun to see James Cameron wearing the James Cameron.

Ok let's think about this for a minute?

The gradient blue watch dial is named after him.....so if I had a watch named after me it would be my favorite as well.

Keep in mind the blue dial did not accompany him on the dive...it was the ref. 116660 MKI that I proudly wear daily.

I love wearing this watch! The dial is definitely one of the best that Rolex makes. Unfortunately, too many care about the 44mm size, but it wears perfectly.

Well yeah - if I had Rolex named after me, I’d wear it too.

To be clear, the D-blue was never formally named after him.
But I'll wager both their watches were two of the very first off the production line and presented as gifts

Ok I think I found out why this watch is great on slender wrists.

Basically it’s big yes but also polished and flanked straight, meaning it basically becomes a mirror that reflects the skin of the wrist, making it look much smaller than it is.

Tried it today again at the AD and I am so close to buying it. I must resist.

I find it amusing that “the James Cameron” watch (ie the deep sea blue) wasn’t even the watch that he wore for it to become “the James Cameron”. But then I guess this is the watch world

The lady at the AD said it was very nice on me. I know she’s got pony in this race but I am a weak man.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind, and worst case scenario I enjoy it a few months, get bored and sell it for minimum loss. Oh god what am I saying I know I’d never sell it.

It’s not named as such because of the movie or what James Cameron wore. It’s named as such because Rolex itself released this watch specifically to commemorate the successful accomplishment of James Cameron’s exploration of the deepest place on earth.
The name is fitting actually more than most other nick names. At least this one has it’s origins with Rolex itself.

I'm biased, but it's definitely the nicest dial Rolex has actually.

The DSSD JC is a very cool watch. I like the black dial version but prefer the SD43 with the red text slightly better for the large diver from Rolex. But the JC dial makes the DSSD for me. It is beautiful and adds some fun to wearing the watch. I own both the DSSD JC and the SD43 and they each have a place in the collection.

I agree it’s the most beautiful diver built and I was happy to pick one up and always enjoy looking at that great dial!
