Bucherer???

The news is out that Rolex just bought Bucherer.

Just read somewhere that Bucherer is going to turn into Rolex's Authorized dealer -- half the shops becoming Rolex and Half of them becoming Tudor Authorized AD.

What does that mean for PPs that have been in Bucherer?
Other brands that Bucherer previously carried?

Bucherer???

Long thread in Rolex General section with confirmed news that Rolex has purchased Bucherer.

But nothing more was announced.

As for Patek contracts with Bucherer-owned dealers (e.g., Tourneau and others Bucherer bought in the past) - only time will tell.

I do not believe Rolex did this to strip the other brands out of the shops Bucherer owned. There isn’t enough Rolex product made per year to replace the revenue stream Bucherer generated from jewelry and other Watch sales (even if 100% of Rolex output went through Bucherer).

I got my first PP on Bucherer 57th Street NYC.
Their website had Rolex and PP on the front page.
Now PP is gone. Not even under their 'watches' or 'brands' tab

Hmm.

The funny part is the image of Bucherer's front door on the website has Patek all over the window on the left side

Just curious, how long ago did you get that Watch there? And do you recall when PP was dropped?

The watch industry appears to be resetting itself as a result of the enormous demand arising from money printing around Covid, quantitative easing and the Bitcoin froth. They seem to think the last three years is the new normal.

I think they may be deluded.

Many economies are now turning downhill. The Rolex craze, which enticed everyone and their Mum into flipping and setting themselves up as grey dealers using consignment etc for funding, are now up against it. The PP niche - SS Nautilus and Aquanauts frothed in response.

Personally I am anticipating a return to what was normal with stock availability and retail discounts available….. but who knows!

Noticed PP was removed from the website when I went into it yesterday.
I acquired the watch 1 month ago approx. and PP was there on the website when I checked then.

Then it has little to nothing to do with this current acquisition. Bucherer and other ADs were told to convert floorplans into separate, almost freestanding, inside boutique-like rooms.

My nearby AD almost dropped PP but they came to an arrangement. Rolex was asking the same thing of their ADs and he has both lines. A very difficult process that elbows out other jewelry with higher volume and margin.

The word on the street is that bucherer was for sale and Rolex couldn’t let anyone else have it.

But think of the data they have now. Prices on other brands watches and so on. Uhh.

The Press release from Rolex says nothings gonna change.

I believe the sole surviving family member, having no direct family heirs, was hoping to build a cooperative union of watchmaking maisons.

That did not materialize, so the next best option was a sale.

Interesting take Louis. Intrigue, concern, fascination, perhaps disappointment, but why “outrage!”?
