5226G as a first purchase?

I’m interested in the 5226G - it would be my first Patek. How realistic is it for me to be able to purchase this model from an AD as a first purchase? I have a pretty good buying history at the AD, mostly Rolex and some jewelry, but I’m not sure that will be helpful with trying to make this purchase.

Everything you've said suggests it's possible. Just have a chat with your dealer and see what they say.

Given your history and it's a Calatrava I suspect it will turn up in a year or so.

The Patek timepieces are getting harder to come by. It goes to show that demand for Patek has remained strong except for a few models. That said, there’s no harm in trying to start a conversation with your AD — especially why you like this to be your first Patek.

I feel as though you should be fine, and it definitely is possible

Yes, start the dialogue with an AD and express your interest.

I have a relationship with my AD and they could not gurantee me one in a reasonable timeframe. Ended up buying mine from DavidSW at a very reasonable price. Yes, over MSRP, but not by much when you factor in taxes. They are still a good value on secondary market relative to sticker price, have to imagine those flipping them are losing money or breaking even.
