Love the 3940. A classic size for a classic watch. 37mm will be perfect for your 6.75" wrist. Much prefer it aesthetically over the 5146.

Definitely the 5146 for me! That cream dial is sublime.

What else is in your collection?
In any event, between those two, the 3940 without a doubt for me. The watch is a great size with a slim profile; it's perfect for business casual up to very dressy. The perpetual calendar in such a slim case is a marvel, just superb.

Huge congratulations
Without doubt you have made the right decision  It suits your wrist perfectly. And yes, unless you would like to get a MR or a Tourbillon All this talk of Patek Philippe, is giving me the itch to get one

Congrats! A rather straightforward choice with the benefit hindsight don't you think?

The black face 5146 is a real work of art and it's definitely my fav, but the 3940 is also beautiful so enjoy it in good health!

Old thread, but would be interested to see if time changed the feeling.
I own the 5146G and am thinking of a 3940G. I grew a bit tired of the 5711 hype and given current prices I could trade it for a really nice PP, the 5170 and 3940 are on that list. Any input?

3940 over 5146
Which 5170 are you considering?

Considering the white gold version. Love the black but I guess legibility sucks, so white dial with the pulsometer.
Used to own a Lange 1 Darth and could never read the time! The 5146 would stay, the 5711 is the one considering to put on the chopping block. AC and PC might be too much (but I do love the 3940), they're a pain to set. That's why I think the 5170 is great to pick up, wind, set and wear in a minute.
