Western Union bank deposit ??

I know there's tons of scams involving sellers asking for Western Union payments but an international buyer is offering to pay me via Western Union bank deposit... Is this just as safe as a wire transfer? Should I go ahead with this?

Thanks

My understanding of WU is that they deposit the money at one store and you can take it all out at another. No ACH, drawbacks, hold on accounts, etc. So if that's right. Sure, but go to the western union and take out the entirety of the funds before sending the watch.
No deposit. Pay in full first.
If my understanding is correct

Is there a limit to the amount of cash I can receive at the WU location?

All info can be found on WU's webpage.

Western Union can be safe, depending on the mode of transfer. I've sent some money overseas via WU by depositing cash at my local WU; and my friend in another country, picked up the total funds I've sent earlier within 1-2hrs later at her local WU branch. Get your buyer to deposit money in the full amount at their local WU, then ask him/her to forward you the WU unique transfer details. You then go to your local WU branch with those WU unique transfer details and pick up the money in cash. You would need to bring your passport/licence to prove you are the beneficiary. If you can't get your money because WU can't find your details of the funds transfer on their system ie. transfer details are Fake/Scam ... easy, don't send! Straight forward. If it's legit, you should be able to pick up cold hard cash within 1-2 hrs. I'd be very wary of escrows. Someone who knows more can chime in or correct me.

If you're nervous, ask him/her to send you 20% cash deposit via WU transfer/pick up. Remember, you don't send until you receive the full amount, no buts, no ifs about it.

As for the max amount you can pick up from your local WU branch? Give your local WU branch a call!

If they are CONUS I would want a direct bank to bank transaction.

I am always suspicious of people who try to hide their activity and "save" a few dollars on fees while dealing in products that cost thousands of dollars.
