How to report Stolen Rolex Watch? Seller Beware Rolex Daytona 116509 Serial G721328

To all seller, Please beware when you selling your watch or Jewelry. I got Rob on Wednesday night, Someone call and ask for my address stating he wants to buy my Daytona 116509 then i got Rob, but i think it's my own mistake that i provide them my address. I got hurt badly and he got away with the watch. So to all seller, please don't make the same mistake as me. Only meet at public area with camera to protect yourself. Also when buying please make sure the watch is not stolen that's why i always buy complete with card and paper so i won't have issue later. I already make a police report and does anyway here know how to report lost watch to Rolex with serial number. Thank you for your help!

Gosh, sorry to hear of your misfortune! I hope you weren't too badly injured.

I think everyone has heard of different stories, true or not, of Craigslist sales going bad. Many towns have special "safe" zones near or in the police department to meet people for sales like these. I've never had a problem, but I've also never sold (or bought) anything expensive via Craigslist; usually it's stuff worth $100 or less.

I recognized your username because I looked at your watch in the "for sale" forum just a few days ago. Darn nice watch too.

Best of luck. Be more careful selling your BLNR!

Whitestone, or College Point? Yeah giving someone your address here in NYC is not the best of ideas. Meet in a public place, always. Bank or AD, setting where armed guards will be present. I prefer a bank because once I get the cash I can just deposit it with out being paranoid of being followed. I hope the Daytona is insured through homeowners or renters insurance. People laugh at me when I say my collection is all insurance. Good that no serious harm was done to you, but I hope the NYPD catch that bastard.

A few of the local police departments in my area, and the Sheriff's dept. as well, provide an internet transaction area at their facilities. They are CCTV monitored, and are in the parking lot.

Good thing you werent killed, lessen learned do not give your home address as they can always come back knowing you maybe have more in your home.

This might be a good time to install some CCTV's and a home security alarm for peace of mind.

for higher value items I wouldnt put the Ad on craigslist...too many crooks out there and always ask for references and do your homework before meeting.

hope you werent hurt bad.

Thanks for asking, couple of staple on my head now lol.. This guy came with a stolen car and got away with bear foot. Police and K9 all came and they already got his DNA and finger print. I don't think he can get away but i think by the time he got caught, my watch is already gone.

I know it's a shot in the dark, but check out pawnshops that might be in the vicinity of your area. Knowing this is NYC, I know it's a LONGGG shot, but might as well give it a go. From your vantage point the perpetrator could have come from anywhere.

The watch should go back to the original owner even if the person didn't know they bought a stolen watch. I hope you get your watch back and the scumbag gets what is coming to him. Please keep us posted.

Stolen property stays the ownership of the original owner OR any insurance company that paid out on it.
The "unsuspecting" buyer has no claims or rights
