Unfortunately these kinds of things are becoming all to common in central London. I hope they catch the culprits.

Is it true the police really won't pursue people on scooters?

Do the USA have these scooter problems?? Always seems London at the moment, guess due to our soft touch. I have heard stories of the thieves taking off their helmets as Police pursue so they then won't chase and put them in danger - crazy if true.

Pity nobody was tempted to swerve onto the pavement and ram them, though they would no doubt be in more trouble then the scum doing the robbery

Haven’t heard of any incidents similar to what you have in UK just yet. “Normal” store robbery is fairly common, but nothin this elaborate.

I know the guys in the store very well. They've looked after me for years. This is terrible. Just sent them a message to see if all OK.

looks like the continuation of the moped street muggings trend. Overall though they have not been violent most of the time so thats the one good thing.

The Patek Salon on bond street has the double locked doors so you can't get from the street directly inside. You have to wait for the door to the street to lock behind you before the door to the salon opens. I doubt a moped could drive through and break it down either.

Seems like people in the UK are going to greater lengths to rob people of very little in terms of watches (E.G. getting killed for a GMT LN)

I was only partially joking. It's scary. There have been a few violent smash and grabs in the USA, where customers where in the store. I wouldn't want to experience that.

Let's not get too hysterical. This is the U.K. Where robberies still occur in a gentlemanly manner!! No guns, no bloodshed, in and out. There is still honour amongst thieves. Think Of Hatton Gardens, Graff in New Bond Street and a few other tunnellers etc. in my home country you would be pushing up daisies for a cell phone

The main door to Sloane Street is opened by security from the inside. The side door in Basel Street I don't believe is used. I live 300 m away so know it well

Mopeds and motorbikes have long been used in Central London as a means of escape due to the traffic. Robberies on jewellery stores have always occurred. The press have joined 2 stories to stir up the hype. 10,000,000 or more people in London; terrible for those involved, but do the maths.

excellent point, however to get your point across to the intended audience it would be math and not maths

Mainly referring to the locked thread from earlier with the same content, it just got a bit out of hand.
